1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE

Pros: Looks nice on the shelf.

Cons: Constantly crashes. Navigation is a nightmare. Files on HDD keep corrupting; no way to remove them other than to disassemble the entire unit and pull the drive. No reboot option on hang other than to pull the power. Firmware upgrade actually made issues worse.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a gift for my wife and wanted badly to like it. For months, I've tried to find something redeeming about it, but every time I get used to a feature, it breaks. I can consistently listen to internet radio. That's about it.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's ok

Pros: It works. It will play pretty much any file you throw at it that a VLC can play. The setup didn't take too long.

Cons: Doesn't play 1080p perfectly, I can tell by the pixels and colors that on some of the largest high quality 1080p the device struggles. 720p and lower though spot on perfect. The wireless card on it was messed up until I installed the newest firmware. The device on the wired network won't go faster than 12mb/s which isn't gigabit like the device claimed, that's the biggest let down, usb3.0 works but then I can't use the device, I might try a wireless n signal and maybe? who knows, it's really annoying it should just gigabit and I'm upset with it. I've tried turning the wireless network off at least a dozen times and I'm done fighting the device. It works for what it works for, and it was cheap, but I didn't expect so many hard drive errors. Worth it? Maybe. I'm not sure what else you could pick though, hopefully some new players enter the market.

Other Thoughts: As much as I want a wireless mouse and keyboard for this thing I'm not sure how much more of it I can take. It's slow, it errors alot, it restarts itself when there's a file issue. For what it's worth it's not the worst thing in the world but for what it was advertised as I think I got played. I don't regret getting it over the other devices that were 4-5 times as expensive, it's the price of this device that mattered and I got what I paid for, it would have been nice to at least get what was advertised though.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than home built

Pros: I can access videos off of my computer and they play without problems. Cost effective to buidling a PC to do the same job.

Cons: WIFI is slow, but I rather run wired network vers wireless.

Other Thoughts: Worth the money, could use improvements but the improvements doesn't change the function.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Purchase

Pros: -Easy to use
-Placed a 3TB interally
-Plays every video file i have placed on it
-High quality videos
-5.1 Surround Sound plugged in no problem

Cons: -A few MP4 files had some weird sound glitches. When something played loud, it did a high pitched screech. Easily resolved when i converted the video file into another format
-Takes a few minutes for it to recognize the internal hard drive when turned on, may be that i have a 3TB.

Other Thoughts: So far i have used the UEBO for videos, havent tried the internet on it because i have a Computer for that. For my use though it is perfect

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth it.

Pros: looks, size, remote

Cons: wireless, gui, laggy, media features

Other Thoughts: i've owned an original xbox tsop flashed with xbmc on a 500gb harddrive. so my review is based on moving from that to this.

it looks nice and fits in great but usability is far from great. the startup time is about 30 seconds as apposed to the xbox taking 7 seconds. every time you try to access the file manager or certain "explorer" menus it has to re scan the hard drive.

as far as hardware is concerned, it's capable. software is complete junk. the wireless stalls after transferring about 500mb. ftp has to be done over ethernet which works fine. the remote is responsive. the torrent client can't handle more than 2 torrents. the included web based media works fine. trying to transfer 1400mb video from a usb flash drive doesn't work which makes the usb ports useless. tried 3 different drives in differents formats with 3 different files on each. none works. even did the bios update. no good.

as far as software goes it sucks too. navigation through menus is ok. nothing great or easy. navigation while in movie is trash. fast forwarding through video files is choppy and weird (you'd have to see for yourself to understand). skipping segments or chapters is task.

i returned this and bought the cheapest fusion based motherboard (BIOSTAR A68I-350), case, and ram i could find. cheaper and it runs openelec or whichever xbmc flavor you want just fine. now i can continue to use xbmx with HD capabilities to play new h264 1080p files.

5 out of 5 eggsUEBO M400-WL-US

Pros: Great Price, Plays everything fast speed, easy setup

Cons: Not a Con. But good to know. BlueTooth KB Makes Life much Easier. Playon App expands this to another level of use.

Other Thoughts: Love it

5 out of 5 eggsReplacement for Diamond MP1000

Pros: Built in WiFi and plays everything I throw at it- INCLUDING- FLV's; (previous reviewer stated it does not play FLV's but it does- perhaps newer firmware helped).

The main reason I opted for the Uebo was due to the USB ports- I do not run a "server"- I have several external drives which I plugged directly into my previous media player via USB hubs and it worked flawlessly. Most media players today expect a person to have a wireless server connection, which is a PITA when compared to simply hardwiring external drives; you never have to worry about signal issues when the drive is directly connected to the media player. The Diamond MP1000 worked great except for the fact it has been discontinued and there are no longer any updates- which meant problems playing video files utilizing newer video codecs.

Cons: Slow remote response; I subsequently replaced the remote by programming my URC MX500 remote with its functions- now access is quick and smooth.

Antenna is weak compared to the signal my laptop received (which sits two feet from the Uebo)- should have option to replace the antenna with higher gain version. However, I can still stream video with PlayOn via 802.11n router and it plays fairly well... although, I may still run a wired cable from the router to the Uebo to avoid any possible problems due to weak signal.

Other Thoughts: Downloaded newest firmware file, put on USB stick, and plugged it in to the Uebo; went through the menu and updated directly from there without any problems.

Installed an older SataII 400GB HDD and re-formatted from the Uebo menu. I set the drive to spin-down after five minutes; I rarely use the internal drive except to keep my most frequently watched videos anyway.
Internal HDD is accessible both from laptop and by plugging in the USB 3.0 cable.

NOTE: Be sure to configure your computer's folder permissions, otherwise you will run into problems asking for passwords. I simply added "everyone" to the folder security and then shared the folder as normal. It also helps to set the folder properties in Windows Explorer; tools, folder options, view; the UNCHECK "Use Sharing Wizard". Sometimes the computer will reset or change your permissions if this is left checked.

5 out of 5 eggsLove my UEBO

Pros: Plays a great variety of formats. You can purchase up to a 3 Terabyte internal hardrive for it.You can change the size of the video you are watching.

Cons: Having trouble formatting the internal hardrive. My window XP didn't recognize the internal hard drive but Window Vista recognize it.The UEBO doesn't have any buttons so if you loose your remote you got problems. The digital display on the box display the information so small that you can't see any of it.Network issues.

Other Thoughts: I love it because it recognizes all my DVD and Blue Ray titles.

4 out of 5 eggsUebo M400 -Step ahead of the rest!

Pros: With the exception of FLV support, this 3TB-capable HDD media player plays just about every format out there. Supports SD Cards, external USB Flash drives, external USB hard drives, external usb DVD players, KB/Mice & more. UPnP, DLNA, Samba, FTP and Bit Torrent built-in. WiFi-N included!

Cons: Web browser and related apps don't support Flash or HTML 5. The internal fan can at times become off-centered and make a little noise (as with most devices) but it's not a deal-breaker. Android-type app support for Netflix, Hulu is not natively supported unless you use a SW product called PlayOn

Other Thoughts: Compared to similar devices (Hard Drive Network Media Players) this product covers about 95% of available options

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Player but that all

Pros: HDMI to TV and plays everything I throw at it either from its internal hard drive, a NAS, or DLNA server. Works as a NAS although its speed is only 3-4 MB/Sec.

Cons: WiFi G provides adequate reception while N has very poor range. Antenna cannot be replaced with higher gain version. UEBO website says this is a DLNA server. It is not. Neither of my TVs (Samsung, Sharp) detect it. The uPNP is seen by my PC but who cares, I can watch anything on my PC anyway.

Other Thoughts: I do not use the web features. I wanted a low power DLNA Player/Server for my network and thought this would fill the bill. For that purpose it is a failure. Its a good player, a slow NAS, and not a DLNA server at all.
