2 out of 5 eggsPoor reliability

Pros: was a HP supported product.

Cons: Poor reliability. When I call HP they referred me to DisplayLink for troubleshooting, which was no help.

Other Thoughts: Went with off brand solutions. They worked way better.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great for tertiary monitory

Pros: Easy install, works well with both Mac and PeeCee. Does what it is suppose too.

Cons: Struggles with video when running as a primary monitor. I use this with my Mac Mini and i love it for keeping my email up, watching meters when recording. I save the heavy lifting for the other 2 monitors. But for the price COME on, totally worth it.

Other Thoughts: I use this on both PC and Mac and have little problems other than what I described.

4 out of 5 eggsfunctional

Pros: Does its job well, allows me to hook up my monitor to a usb port.

Cons: Kind of chunky, but not sucha big deal once it is setup.
occasionally, the screen on the extra monitor will freeze until i reboot. This could be the OS (win 7 pro) but i beleive its the drivers for the device. has happened to me 3 times in 4 months, constant use, so not really a bad fail rate.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine for office use

Pros: I have a bunch of this units deployed in my office to give people a third monitor without having to add an additional video card. Installs without issues in windows 7 pro with drivers from windows update and all i need to do is login as and admin. They are good for office graphics, web, spreadsheets, email, etc. not to play video, games or graphics design.
It uses standard DisplayLink drivers so you wont need to fight HP for new drivers. Actually the only thing HP in this unit is the logo.

Cons: Once in a while the USB looses sync for some reason and needs to be unplugged and re-plugged. other than that i have not had any other issues with the device or it's drivers.
The usb connector in the unit is a Mini-Usb and that can be a pain since it's a flimsy connector for such box size so i duct tape the usb cable to the box to avoid the cable from wiggling loose.

Other Thoughts: have about 20 of them laying around, no issues whatsoever other than the USB sync which i've had with pretty much any USB device at one point or another.

Pros: Had to buy something as my 'small form factor' CPU has NO slots!! To run a second monitor, I had what was probably one of the first USB to VGA adapters that existed - decidedly a lesser brand - tha ultimately failed. This one was 1/3 the price I paid for the other one way back when, and the resolution one the second monitor is now every bit as good as the first monitor connected to the on board VGA port. The old adapter was never this good. I am thoroughly pleased with it! For the record, I am running 2 identical 20" HP monitors, and I cannot see any difference in quality between the two with the HP adapter installed.

Cons: I am still running XP, so I can't speak to the incompatibility with 7, and that is a concern, because I don't necessarily like being 3 generations behind on OS, now that 8 is on the horizon. Wish me luck!

Other Thoughts: Full motion full-screen video is not as smooth on adapter monitor as on VGA connected monitor, but I'm an accountant, and being able to see the little numbers in a spreadsheet or a PDF document is what it's all about for me.

5 out of 5 eggsworks as advertised

Pros: works as advertised. i use it with a HP laptop and various hubs. no trouble. desktop apps. i don't notice any performance bottleneck e.g. moving windows around on that monitor. works as a third monitor in tandem with the laptop's built in monitor and the laptop's external HDMI monitor.

Cons: price

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great !

Pros: Simple to setup and works as advertised (I am running XP Pro). Excellent way to add an extra widescreen monitor to my laptop at work.
Obviously not as fast as a gaming video card, but works perfectly fine for email, spreadsheets, word processing etc.
Even played YouTube fairly well.
Comes with a DVI to VGA converter also.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: None.

5 out of 5 eggsLittle known but useful little item

Pros: easy install, solid image quality sufficient for most apps. worth any little glitches. I envision a system running 4 monitors with at least 2 of the monitors run by these guys!

Cons: When computer goes to sleep it freezes on me. Perhaps I have my usb ports on power save mode or something. I don't care enough to fix it because all you need to do to reset it is reseat the usb cable. Every so often the screen goes black on me for about a second. No big deal to me.

Other Thoughts: I have a high quality video card that semi-failed. The second HDMI out quit and this device is serving as a replacement. This device has frankly performed better than expected and has saved me from having to make expensive/involved fixes.
