SUPERMICRO SNK-P0038P CPU Heatsink for Xeon Processor 5500 Series

Pros: This is the 2nd set of heatsinks I purchased for a 1366 series board going into a 4U. They are solid and do well cooling. Zero issues.

Cons: Smug proofing the tops would be nice. Always difficult not to get my finger prints all over them and make that shiney new look dirty old fast.

Other Thoughts: Wish Tyan had stuff like this.

Pros: Works perfectly with Supermicro MBD-X8DAH+-F-O motherboard and Supermicro's 2U rackmount case for Westmere E5620 CPUs.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is a passive heatsink designed for use in cases that have forced airflow for the CPUs. The Supermicro 2U rackmount case I bought has an airflow shrowd to serve this purpose.

No back plate needed for the Supermicro MBD-X8DAH+-F-O motherboard because the motherboard has a metal bracket built into the PCB. Just screw this heatsink directly into that motherboard. Some other motherboards apparently may need a separate back plate (for use in motherboards that just have holes in the motherboard where the heatsink screws connect to the back plate).
