Based on the Intel C602 chipset, the SUPERMICRO SYS-7037A-I server barebone is a high-end server that supports dual Intel Socket R (LGA 2011) Xeon CPUs and up to 512 GB DDR3 ECC memory, delivering stunning computing power to deal with your most demanding applications. Three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, two PCIe 3.0 x 8 slots and one PCIe 3.0 x4 slot provide substantial I/O bandwidth for current and future needs. 2x Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports enable bottleneck-free data transfer.
The chassis comes with 4x hot-swap 3.5" HDD bays for easy drive insertion and removal. Keeping everything cool is key to system reliability and stability. Three fans are pre-installed to ensure efficient ventilation. A 900W PSU with 80 PLUS Gold certification delivers abundant and robust power for the whole system with superior energy efficiency.
Stable, full-featured workstation
Pros: Good price, excellent motherboard + support from SuperMicro, quiet, lots of PSU connectors, rock-solid, good support for ES CPUs (X9DAi is widely supported and you can downflash to older BIOS revisions). Lots of connectors on the PSU.
Cons: Heatsinks aren't included, which is annoying. I fit two XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283 heatsinks (currently $32/each) without an issue.
Other Thoughts: This is an excellent foundation for a very powerful system at a great price point

Minimal. Doesn't come with heatsinks!
Pros: Relatively compact, relatively clean internal configuration, high quality motherboard and power supply, good selection of front ports.
Cons: This case is very minimal. not cheap, just very, very basic. The hard drive mounting is very primitive, and there are absolutely no frills like mounting for 2.5" hard drives, etc. The included cable management accessories are nice, but that's it. Since none of the CPUs designed for this barebones come with included heatsinks you'd better add at least an additional $60 or so to get proper heatsinks.
Other Thoughts: While the photos on NewEgg do indicate that heatsinks aren't included the images on Supermicro's site are very misleading. Additionally I've purchased dozens of Supermicro barebones server and workstation kits and I can't remember a single one that was designed to work with server-class CPUs that didn't include the required heatsink solution. This is a bad trend!
