5 out of 5 eggsSuper Fast and ESX approved

Pros: Card is one of the best!
Largely due to the inclusion of Raid 1E and 5EE, these will give you 500MB/sec write and reads on nearly any 4 sata disks.

Cons: Runs very hot, but does not affect its performance or reliability.
It may cause other cards next to it in a tower case to heat up a lot.
I added a small fan on the heatsink and it took care of that problem.

Other Thoughts: Some say the cables are not included with this as a con, but there is a separate version of this card sold on Newegg from Adaptec - KIT , that includes cables etc.
Add on the BATTERY unit for the card, it runs faster - like adding a turbo, and increases reliability if a power failure happens.

5 out of 5 eggssaved my rear

Pros: This card saved my rear-side last night. One of the 4 drives in my raid5 array died. The card gives off an incredibly loud alarm when this happens. So I go to my local parts place and purchased a similar new drive. Plugged it in and after a couple hours re-indexing completed. Life went on as if nothing happened :)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: thinking of selling it to get the 3805 and expand to eight drives (2 4-drive arrays) for MediaTomb to house all my media files.

5 out of 5 eggsBest card for the price

Pros: with the right connectors can support 256 drives, I am running 8 of the cards with a min of config of 5x500gb in raid6 to as much as 15 hitatchi 2tb's. this is the best raid card i have found in a long time. on the high perfomace system 4 HITACHI Ultrastar 15K600 HUS156045VLS600 (0B23662) 450GB 15000 RPM 64MB Cache SAS 6Gb in raid 10 i am getting read/writes over 2.2gb with 2 dual port intel bonded gb nics.

Cons: price, didnt buy from the egg.

Other Thoughts: Highly recomended for and heavy load streaming server. I am streaming hd movies to 3 diffent htpc at the same time and never notice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive Array Card

Pros: Purchased this card about 9 months ago with two WD RE3 1TB drives to run a VMWare ESXi server on a high end DSEB-DG Asus server motherboard. Server has never crashed and runs 24/7 except when there are long power outages or hurricanes.

Cons: I wish I didn't have to spend so much for a home server but it seems I got what I paid for. The drives and server has never locked up or failed.

Other Thoughts: Supports the MaxIQ technology which is expensive at the moment and also a battery pack for memory. I get 80MB/s throughput but VMWare does such a great job of caching that I rarely need more than 5MB/s.

3 out of 5 eggsUseless without extras

Pros: Fits the Tyan 1U servers Newegg Sells. Drivers for everything.

Cons: Not fully functional out of the box.
Newegg doesn't sell the necessary extras.
Runs hot.

Other Thoughts: Caveat Emptor. In order to have a useful system, you need the right cable (which Newegg Doesn't Sell), since no cable is included, and a regular SATA cable won't work; and Battery (which Newegg also doesn't' sell). If I were you, I'd buy a complete package from someone who stocks it.
No matter where you buy from, check the config @ Adaptec first.
