This review is from: Adaptec RAID 5805Z 2266900-R SATA/SAS 8 internal ports w/ 512MB cache memory Controller Card
Pros: I started out with a 5405 a few years ago and was so pleased with its performance that when it came time to upgrade I just had to stay with adaptec. Easy array building with either the provided management software, or the on-board BIOS. I'm getting 1.2 GB/s on my SSD arrays, consistantly.
Cons: none, it does everthing it claims to.
Other Thoughts: So for around $800 for the card plus $450 for four 50GB vertex2's...with cables say $1300 you can have a 200GB OS array cranking out 1.2 GB/s...that is a much better value than the pre-made PCIe SSD cards being sold out there and you still have space for four more drives in any configuration you choose. (hybrid arrays are the way to go for the last for your second array) Also, you can change your drive configurations anytime you want. IMO the PCIe drives are way too expensive for what you actually get.
