3 out of 5 eggsShort lived

Pros: Did it's job.

Cons: Died at around 4 months of use. Bought 8/17/14, died 2/26/15.

Other Thoughts: While I realize failures do happen, it is frustrating none the less.

Pros: Does what it's intended to do, and lets you safely turn-on write-caching.

Cons: Failed after 4 months.

Other Thoughts: Getting replaced through Adaptec.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value/performance balance

Pros: Significant boost to write performance for 7 drive RAID6 array (SAS2 2TB Segates). >100MB/sec sustained. Longer life than BBU's.

Cons: Half-baked mounting options.

Other Thoughts: Alleviated my concerns about RAID6 performance overhead.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to install. Good concept vs. BBU's.

Cons: I have a quiet PC, and this device emits a high pitch noise that I can hear over the fans and HDD's. I RMA'd it through Adaptech and the replacement, while not as loud as the first one, still emits an audible whistle. It is not the capacitor pack, but the AFM 600 card itself that emits the noise...

Other Thoughts: Adaptech RMA process was very simple and the support representative was courteous. I would be quite happy with my 6805 and the AFM 600 kit if it weren't for the noise.... Unfortunately I will be selling them and going with another brands 6Gb/s offering. hmm... now where will I store all this data during the swap....
