5 out of 5 eggsExcellent adapter

Pros: Easy install, worked fine in a second PCIe x8 (x16 running at x8) slot next to another adaptec controller. Great performance. Excellent price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to buy cables, Adaptec no longer sells the adapters in kit form with cables included. I also would suggest downloading the latest driver from Adaptec instead of using those on the CD.

Pros: Exactly as advertised.
Works.

Cons: Requires 200 CFM airflow over the heatsink. Why they don't toss a cheap fan on it I don't know. But it's required. Do not overlook cooling on this thing. Pretty sure it has caused corruption in my past.

I put this as a con because: sold 'as is' means it can't keep itself within operating temperatures. They even put a slip in the box saying it requires a fan. -_-

Other Thoughts: This is yet another Adaptec card we are using. Works great. Doing a raid 5 even though it would have been funner to do a raid 0.
Using 5 ssd's on the card and 1 on the motherboard for database and indexes. It flies with our 6700k 4.8Ghz cpu. Plowing through hundreds of gigabytes of data in mere hours.
