4 out of 5 eggsRock Solid Stable Performance

Pros: It is what it is. Read the specs. It does what it was designed to do, well. Very Inexpensive. free *rocket* egg shipping, solid deal, uses the Initio INIC162 chip, simple flawless install in xp with included drivers. Choice of either Raid, or simple controller drivers. Logical, easy to configure, versatile BIOS. Easy to use, manager app. also included. It is STABLE and "plays nice with others" right out of the box, unlike its two closest competitors, the ones W/ 3x12 & 35x2 chips. This'n dusted my 31x2 in both Crystal Diskmark & HD Tach..

Cons: None really. But sorry, had to knock off an egg, cause it does not turn your old PCI slot into PCI Express x4 SATA II ... c'mon, for a whopping XIV skins, this should ship with at least 1TB of Solid State Storage and make your tired old P4 box perform like a i7-975 Extreme system...

Other Thoughts: Bought this to pair with a single extra internal drive for storage. This card works well for that purpose. Have two existing on-board SATA raid arrays & using this as a regular expansion controller, this card does not try to bully & hog resources like certain other brands in this class. But, just one sticking point, why are these even being marketed as a raid solution? All the companies do it with theirs too. Hello, they have 1 single internal & 1 external port . . . (shrug)

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine With Vista

Pros: Installed fine, works fine with BIOS, native RAID and all that.

Cons: Vista did not have native drivers, but it asked for the drivers on the CD containing the XP drivers, and after that all was well.

Other Thoughts: It was a good transitional device to use SATA drives in XP and Vista with an older MOBO.

3 out of 5 eggsYou should Know

Pros: Got here fast.

Cons: This card is not SATA II as described. It is only 1.5Gps Sata. It supports a eSATA II connector, but it does not have SATA II's 3.0Gps speed
