4 out of 5 eggsSpeed Depends on PCI-e rev. 2.0

Pros: Lets your SATA III SSD perform faster on older motherboards which only have SATA II connections.

Allows connection of two devices (SSD, HDD, or DVD/CD drives)

Cons: Can't achieve full SATA III speed because it has only 1 "lane" of bandwidth, but that's true of all controller cards that fit in PCI-e x1 slot.

Get a controller card designed for PCI-e x4 slot or higher to achieve full SATA III speed .... and pay more for it.

Other Thoughts: If your motherboard has PCI-e revision 1.0 it will limit the controller card to HALF its available speed. You need PCI-e rev. 2.0 to get full performance.

Maximum Sequential Read speed will be around 380MB/sec. for a SATA III SSD. That's a nice boost compared to around 280MB/sec. on SATA II motherboard ports.

If you want your SSD to achieve over 500MB/sec. you must use a controller card with 2 or more lanes of bandwidth, which requires an PCI-e rev. 2.0 x4 slot such as Newegg Item#: N82E16816124056 .

1 out of 5 eggsawful

Pros: none

Cons: Blue screens windows 7 x64 on install, instructions say if* you get it installed you have to disable windows driver signature enforcement so that it works, also tried with updated driver from site listed on manual, did not help.

Other Thoughts: does not support linux either.

4 out of 5 eggsworks with 3TB HDD

Pros: Marvell 88SE91XX controller. Koutech web site has drivers. Works fine with my WD 3TD green drive. Win7 64 bit can see all 3tb. (This controller was added to an old core2duo system.) Didn't test speed. Didn't try it with an SSD.

Cons: PCIE bus limits bandwith since it is only a x1 card.
Doesn't support SMART.

Other Thoughts: Useful if you need to hook up a modern HDD to an old system.

1 out of 5 eggsBig Dissapointment

Pros: It does work.

Cons: Doesn't give sata3 speeds , doesn't even give sata2 speeds! I have a Samsung 830 SSD and when connected to this card I am getting 175 mb/s transfer speeds using HD Tune. If I connect the SSD to the sata2 port on the motherboard I get 275 mb/s transfer speeds.

Other Thoughts: Better off connecting the SSD to the sata2 port on the motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works....

Pros: No problems whatsoever. Literally popped it in, changed my hard drive priority, and I've been good to go. No BSOD after adding it or anything like that. Some reviews I read about other cards mentioned problems, so i was delighted that I haven't had any. Matches my motherboard.... lol....

Cons: Only gets 5.0Gb/s with a PCI-E 16 2.0 but that is a motherboard restriction, not the card's fault. I imagine with PCI-E 16 3.0 it would be up to the full 6.0Gb/s par. They don't try to mislead anyone there, it's stated multiple times. So somewhat sad, but no egg deduction for that.

I also felt the price was kind of high... but it does what I needed it to do flawlessly, so also no egg deduction.

Other Thoughts: I got this as part of a SSD upgrade to my system, my E760 only has 3.0Gb/s satas, and I wanted at least a bit better speed from my solid state.

4 out of 5 eggsPCIe SATA III controller card

Pros: Works fine out of the box

Cons: Title is a 6.0GB SATA card, but fine print admits to only 5.0GB.

Other Thoughts: Be careful, this card does NOT have an IDE port.
