Koutech IO-PESA239 PCI-Express 2.0 x1 Low Profile Ready SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Dual Channel Controller Card

Pros: Adds a couple of SATA ports to any system with a PCIe 1 port.

Cons: I expected that this thing would increase my hard drive performance. It didn't. My onboard SATA ports are 3.0gb/s, and my hard drive is 6.0gb/s. I get slightly slower results when using this card than I do using the onboard ports.

If you're expecting par or improved performance, don't bother.

Other Thoughts: My system is relatively old anyway. And I could use the extra ports. Depending on how much of a hassle the return is, I might just keep it for now. I'm hoping to scrape together some dough and get a new system next year anyway. But if the return is relatively painless, I'm probably going to see if I can get a better card to replace it with.

Pros: none

Cons: Does not support 3TB drive. It report mt WD 3TB drive as 748.39GB on Windows Server 2003. When I plugged the drive into the Highpoint RocketRaid 230x on the same server PC, it comes up as 3TB.

Other Thoughts: I brought this controller because it said it supports 3TB or higher, no such luck.

Pros: Windows 7 quickly detects the card.

Cons: Before installing the card, my SSD Write Speed was 210 MB/s and Read Speed of 197 MB/s on a SATA II slot. After installing the card, my speed is now HALF of what I had before. I think, this should be a software issue. On their website, there is no software update for this card.

Other Thoughts: If I can't get the card fixed, it is going back to Newegg :(
