5 out of 5 eggsAwesome product at a GREAT price

Pros: This product works great and was a breeze to setup. It has worked flawlessly since it was installed with no problems. The documentation is great and easy to understand. If you are looking to add or update your existing raid card, I would highly recommend this one.

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: I had to purchase this card because my old card was having issues and the company that made it (Koutech) went out of business so I couldn't upgrade the drivers or contact support. Hindsight, I am glad. This is a much better card.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work under linux and company out of business

Pros: none

Cons: - didn't work under linux. See lots of hard drive read errors in dmesg, very slow speeds, then finally linux doesn't recognize drive at all and can't read partition table. Moved to a native sata port and drive works flawlessly. Tried this with a couple of drives, always the same
- company is out of business

Other Thoughts: Company is out of business, phone # disconnected and website no longer exists
Only option is to return to newegg for refund.

3 out of 5 eggs4 port sata controller pcie 2x

Pros: 4 ports, linux support

Cons: not perfect in linux, at boot shows a few errors (3.13.6)
even though at boot it shows errors, drives connected to this device still are accessable.

is a 2x card, does not fit in a 1x slot.

no bios configuration, is a pure software raid in operating system. if you need a hardware raid(devices that have its own bios) then this is not for you.

Other Thoughts: for the price i cant complain, it does what i need.

4 out of 5 eggsWould recommend

Pros: 4 port Sata ports.
Hardware RAID.
RAID 0,1, and Hybrid Drive.
Hybrid Drive allows you to mix SSD with an HDD.
Allows you to access the controllers menu through its Bios.
Very easy to set up using the software if your PC isn't compatible with the controllers chipset and thus not allowing you to access it through its Bios.
Instructions are easy to understand.

Cons: Not all motherboards are compatible with the RAID controllers chipset preventing you to use the hardware raid function via its Bios. So a way around this if you would like to use a RAID setup so you can install Windows on is to have a second computer already running windows and using the software to access the hardware to configure your RAID set then transferring the controller and hard drives over to the target computer and finishing up there.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a client that wanted RAID function that his motherboard could not do. I tested this card before going over to set it up on his computer. I tried it on two computers that I have, neither of the two would detect the card before the motherboards Bios posted. But Windows detected it and installed the drivers.

I installed the controller software, the software opens your browser to access the raid controller. I had two different size and brand hard drives on hand and set as RAID 0. Once I did that I then changed the boot settings in the motherboards Bios to the raid set then Installed Windows 7 and worked fine and fast.

So finally I do the same with my clients hard drives, after I remove the controller from my PC and install it into his with the hard drives I had already set up in RAID for him, his motherboard is a few months old but was compatible with the controllers chipset and the RAID controllers Bios posted and I was able to see the the raid set I had created. I installed Windows 7 on my clients PC and ran all updates and installed all software. My client was very happy with this card and he noticed the difference in performance as I told him he would. I was happy with this card considering I tried a different one that did not have hardware RAID and didn't function like how I wanted it to.
