4 out of 5 eggsSupport makes a difference

Pros: Works.
Drivers installed automagically.
When I had some anomalies, Sans Digital support quickly replied with direct and (mostly) useful directions.

Cons: For some reason (that puzzles support as well), the card disappears from BIOS when I Restart Windows 10, but works fine if I Shut Down and start up again.
Noticeable improvement in speed moving to the PCIe x16 slot, but still slower than my identical SATA-direct HDD (per CrystalDiskMark)

Other Thoughts: I discovered after buying the Sans Digital TR4M6GNC enclosure that it doesn't have a port multiplier, so I needed to install one.
The cheapest card on NewEgg, with the ASMEDIA-asm1061 chipset, had problems, so I ordered a more expensive Asmedia-based card and this Silicon Image-based card. This one worked, the others didn't.
Expensive lesson.
Next time I'll get an enclosure with the multiplier onboard.

5 out of 5 eggsGotta love Sans Digital & The 'Egg!!

Pros: Purchased the open box version of this card to upgrade another card I purchased from Newegg that had VERY LOW eSATA data transfer rates of around 25-30mb/sec.

Box was not opened so I got a new card for $21 cheaper then the eggs regular price!!!!!

Shipping was also super fast. Ordered over a weekend, the card shipped on a Monday, & was delivered the next day on Tuesday!

Cons: None at all.

My Data Transfer rates as reported by HD Tach went from around 88-89mb/sec to 120+ on all my external drives.

Other Thoughts: If you're willing to take a chance with Newegg's open box items AND you are computer competent you'll get good stuff at VERY reasonable prices

3 out of 5 eggsWorked ok....

Pros: Recognized 5 1.5 tb drives as soon as I plugged them in. Software is easy to use...

Cons: The driver disk that this thing came with is for a different card (the 4 port version). Windows automatically got the right drivers from the net before I put the disk in, so I didn't notice. Before initializing my giant raid array, I decided to check for updates on their website. There was a bios update that was over 2 years newer than what came on the drive. I flashed with it, the card stopped recognizing my drives (but had no issues with windows). Obvious solution is to flash back to the version that came on the driver disk, right? Probably would have worked had the flash file been for this card... No way to reflash without drivers, which cause blue screens since the chip is improperly flashed. Tech support is slow, been waiting 2 days for RMA approval for something that is pretty obviously their fault.

Other Thoughts: Besides including the wrong drivers/bios files, card seemed ok... Sans Digital needs to step up their tech support.
