3 out of 5 eggsROCKET HYBRID

Pros: This thing works great high speed on the hybrid and I have it in high speed mode, no data lost even during power failures with no UPS.... that part surprised me i figured i would have a data corruption issue after Powerfail or after hard boots when PC locked up

Cons: The Web based GUI or whatever the GUI was is total complete useless garbage. The intreface fails to do anything
other than tell you that the card and array are working...
You already know that by the fact that the PC boots up into the OS which is loadedon the array!

Other Thoughts: I have a 10,000 rpm much older raptor and an 2 Year old 64GB silicon edge SSD attached to the card... In speed mode(raid 0), it works great. I am not using safe mode but after many power failures with no UPS I have had no data corruption. none after rare PC lockups and hard power cycle
works just like a 200GB SSD at a fraction of cost G R E A T

3 out of 5 eggsActually Works

Pros: Actually works and speeds up drive. BIOS easy to configure. Manual not as bad as some claim. Good idea that predates Intel Z68 MB SSD caching feature. Marvell Windows Utility not bad but easy to miss vertical slider bars. Decent use for a 60 GB SSD.

Cons: 2-3 day email tech support turn around time. Complexities and compromises with defragging and imaging/restoring virtual hybrid drives (better off just backing up files).

Other Thoughts: You have to read the manual carefully before installing. Go through the BIOS settings first then install and configure the Windows utility. Price is excellent right now.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Installation was fairly easy. Newegg shipped quickly.

Cons: Fairly generic Windows 7 system (i5-2500/16gb/Asrock P67 extreme4, Hitachi 2tb and Intel 80gb) System became unstable - random rebooting with the RocketHybrid installed. Latest software from HighPoint's website made no difference. Removal fixed everything.

Other Thoughts: It's a nice concept, but save your money.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pros:
It works as advertised. Boot time and app load time have been cut in half.

Cons: Cons:
-My computer will not wake up from sleep
-Took me a while to get this to work
-The manual it comes with is useless. There's a more detailed manual on Highpoints website but that too is worthless
-Drivers and firmware on the website do not have a release date or changelog

11/12/2011 update:
My computer not waking up may be a motherboard beta BIOS issue. I havent gotten the time to sort it out yet

Other Thoughts: I will keep this until they come out with a more refined adapter

2 out of 5 eggsHybrid system didn't work so well

Pros: I rated this card 2 eggs. It works fine as just a SATA card. No problems getting it to work on my Z800 workstation. The hybrid firmware/software worked fine as far as it went. I did upgrade firmware and used the latest software.

Cons: The hybrid thing didn't work so well. you have two choices. Automatic or manual. Automatic didn't work well at all. Something like a chkdsk or defrag seemed to 'wake' it up and it would migrate my frequently used software for things rarely used. The software seemed to make choices on its own even in manual mode. Also I found some lockups. Eventually I just used the SSD as a manual cache. Made more sense and the card wasn't moving things i wanted to stay fast off the ssd.

Other Thoughts: Again its fine as a sata card, but the hybrid mode just didn't seem well thought out. Too often the software would either move things into the ssd or off the ssd for no apparent reason.

1 out of 5 eggsRocketHybrid 122x

Pros: It will work, Tom's Hardware wrote an article on it. It comes close to the hype about it. If it will work on your system. It does run the SSD by itself, if you can live without a mouse.

Cons: It does not work on my test system, nor I fear on any system that uses USB keyboards or mice. USB quits as soon as driver is loaded. So if the geniuses that designed your MB with only 1 PS2 or none; AKA the XFX 750i your XXX. Sorry I can't write how truly out of luck you will be.

Other Thoughts: Long ago there were jumpers to force devices to move off of critical interupts or memory locations. Guess they figured the OSes are smart enough to move stuff around, sadly MS XP-64 and Win7 are not.

1 out of 5 eggsEasy, Work, Don't, Just, It

Pros: Price, it is somewhat cheap. I want go cheap again.

Cons: No drivers, its a nightmare to figure this card out, I took several weeks to play with the mounting of various drives into this card. Started with a C300, 1TB 64 drive, plugged in various drives under different configurations taking time to get up to speed to learn this cards good and bad habits. Understand, I am a 61 year old man, GEEK, this card is truly difficult to deal with, I finally gave up in getting the C300 to boot from this card and put two back up drives on it and put the C300 back to my MOBO slot. It's just too complicated, next time I will get a better high card.

Other Thoughts: Forget about the tech support, who wants to write serious inquiries and get a five word reply back. Eventually this will effect the sale of their products.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it finally works but I don't think mush better than enabling prefetching with a fast ssd and it is alot harder to install. after the machine isbooted the second load of say photoshop is much faster but boot up is not faster

Cons: you must have set your sata port as achi during a prior install of win 7 if used ide mode for the sata it won't boot. I was able to find a ms hotfix that would enable achi re set my sata port to verify it then install. if you are doing a clean install win 7 will install the ahci driver correctly

Other Thoughts: it does not appear to automatically cache th boot up files very disapointing as the seagate notebook hyperdrive does and works well. even though toms hd. praises it , the software does not appear to let you see and cache all programs, I could cache ie9 but not chrome . the install disk should have a little utility to verify ahci and install it for newbees. also the software was glitzy with ie9 and would not work with chrome . I downloaded firefox and it worked fine. unfortunatily microsoft security essentials identified the java script [that sets up the card] as destructive and quaranteens it then does not let you mark it as safe. I had to uninstall the program. I would recommend a small fast ssd be installed then enabling prefetch on it then also putting your swap file on it.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a real RAID Card

Pros: This isn't a "real" RAID card in the traditional sense. It uses some functions of RAID to pair a single, modest SSD with a hard disk to give you the benefits of both in a single volume presented to the rest of the system. In that way, you get super-fast read access from the data cached on the SSD while keeping a large repository of data on the hard disk "behind" it.

Cons: Intel's Z68 chipset will offer similar functionality (though less control)

Other Thoughts: Give this card a "cheap" SSD (maybe a 128GB model) and a large hard disk (like a 2TB "green" drive) and you'll get excellent results. Tom's Hardware has an excellent writeup dated May 10, 2011. Go read it if you want to know what this little card is capable of.
