1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

Pros: Has great reviews.

Cons: Does not work correctly in OS X 10.8 and 10.7.5 releases - no external drives visible.

When HighPoint Support was contacted, the following response was received:

"There is a issue with our RocketU 1022AM controllers working correctly in 10.8 and 10.7.5 releases. A support ticket was open with Apple Inc, for their assistance in solving this issue. We are currently waiting for a reply from Apple on what to do next.

At this point, we can recommend that you return the RocketU controller if you can still do so from where it was purchased since we cannot provide a reasonable fix date for this issue.

2 out of 5 eggsMac Card that Works in Win7 but not OS X

Pros: Works as advertised, but in Windows only!

Cons: Prevents sleep in Macs. Per other reviews elsewhere, High Point knows this but offers no solution (yet).

Other Thoughts: Gave it two stars because it did work in Boot Camp and was pretty darn fast. Too bad a card advertised as specifically for the Mac doesn't act like it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood external RAID option for Mac Pros

Pros: Easy to setup and use. It works like a standard RAID card, but USB ports make connections much simpler. The performance is comparable to many SATA PCI-E cards, and is very reasonably priced for a Mac-only RAID controller. RAID 0, 1 support is a nice addition (the card has its own software - not created using Disk Utility). Seems to work fine with large drives as well (I have a pair of 3TB Freeagents).

Cons: No issue with the product, but the name is really confusing - it can be very hard to find information about it online if you don't search using the full name: “RocketU Dual USB3.0 for Mac”.
Newegg lists Ru1022AM? Maybe Highpoint's part number? Some will confuse the Highpoint RU1022A with this card. DO NOT make this mistake. The "A" is for PC's only, and is actually a different design (check the pictures).

Other Thoughts: Good external RAID option for Mac Pros - performance is on par, and USB ports/connectors are much easier and more reliable, in my opinion, than eSATA (and cheaper than external MiniSAS). Also, you don't need the power cable to use the card - this is for the odd USB3.0 device that isn't self powered.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Power

Pros: Don't have any, doesn't work without power

NOTE: Four port card from same firm appears to get power from pci-e buss

Cons: Does not include power cable, paper directions did not include that a separate power cable is required. On-line directions include mention you need to connect this card to external power.
Companies support web-site does not include any special notes on this issue
Still have not been able to find a power cable that will power this card.

Other Thoughts: I'm better the 4 port from the same firm is a better idea
