Pros: works pretty well overall for a home server, but software can be a bit clunky. (but has improved over time)

Cons: Not quite as fast as other brands but still fine for home use. I see an average of about 60mb/s slower transfers than on my LSI card.

I have experienced at least one array corruption/problem every 3 months or so on the two arrays I was using. (both raid-5) leading me to replace it. No problems on a raid-0 array at all....

Other Thoughts: Good deal for the money, ultimately I went with an LSI card that was about 30% higher priced but has been rock solid otherwise since. Arrays no longer drop out!

Pros: SAS

Cons: doesn't support SMART

Other Thoughts: Works with OS X 10.8 and 10.9 out of the box
You have to make sure you get the right cable for it. It requires a Forward breakout cable.
The cable Highpoint makes it way to long. I bought a short one from another manufacturer.
