5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Screaming Fast. No issues so far.

Cons: would be nice to have a 2nd thunderbolt port for chaining.

Other Thoughts: there is no power button, it comes on when your mac powers up. Worked fine. Its an awesome device for my Macbook

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: Received..setup with 2 Samsung 1t 840 EVO SSD in raid0 and I'm very impressed. Of course very quiet ,cool and it just sits there and goes it's thing. Attached to a new 5K iMac which has 1tb ssd on board so this handles iTunes and LR images..access almost instant..bangs out 692 /704 on black magic

Cons: Sorta expensive for what it is and no tb2..no on/off switch which is no biggie for me

Other Thoughts: And another plus is it is bootable to

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well w MacMini & CarbonCopyCloner

Pros: It's worked flawlessly moving large amounts of data every day. I'm using a Mac Mini and Carbon Copy Cloner.

Cons: No 2nd thunderbolt port (so it has to be the end of a daisy chain). No cable included (understandable to keep costs down).

Other Thoughts: The dock is fast enough to make you realize the limits of the actual hard drive speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Samsung EVO 1TB SSD's

Pros: This dock is a great match for EVO 840 SSD's. 400+ for writes and over 500 reads, basically full speed with no bottleneck. Get this model over USB 3 if you have Thunderbolt ports and need the performance.

Cons: Not cheap, and it doesn't include cables - if you just want basic drive access, this probably isn't for you. No surprise as its performance oriented, and worth the cost if you need it.

Other Thoughts: I recommend spending time reading up on this product before making the plunge. There are a lot of comments about problems with it online, but most in my experience boil down to misconception. Thunderbolt doesn't work like USB or even esata in many ways.

The most obvious is power: Without a Thunderbolt cable, the unit will not power on. It’s not broken! I thought mine was DOA right out of the box when I first got it. My mistake: thunderbolt devices won't power on unless the cable is attached to the device and system, and will shut off on their own if it is removed.
Thunderbolt cables can be finicky: I have several that simply didn't cooperate with this product. If it isn't detecting, try cleaning the cable connectors - sounds ridiculous, but it works. TB cables seem highly sensitive to dirt/debris.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service

Pros: - fast thunderbolt speed

Cons: - broke after 2 weeks
- have been going back and forth with their RMA team for over a month just to get a gosh darn RMA!
- poor customer service, lack of communication in their company between departments
- expensive for poor quality product

Other Thoughts: Seriously High-Point....

I have been going back and forth with them since I mailed out the RMA request in early March. It is now Mid April and they are having me resend the same paperwork that I initially sent. I am tired of dealing with their ridiculous way of issuing RMA's (whole other story that involves making a customer profile, logging into their customer support which is only accessible through a secret link they provide, then you finally get to see their reply vs. just sending you an email).

Hopefully Newegg can issue me a refund at this point so I don't have to deal with these guys anymore.

Pros: Nice and compact very fast transfer speeds

Cons: Doesn't include thunderbolt cable. I thought it was DOA until I tried another thunderbolt cable that came with another drive.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Well, no pros at this point as the product never worked out of the box. No power whatsoever to the unit.

Cons: DOA out of the box. Looks like I'm not the only one to experience this. Not something I'd recommend to anyone now.

Other Thoughts: I'll give anyone a second chance. Hoping the return process to either Newegg or the vendor isn't too painful.

4 out of 5 eggsHighPoint RocketStor 5212 ThunderBolt Dual Drive Dock

Pros: File transfers take half the time as my previous USB2-based solution

Cons: Does not have a power On/Off button; have to unplug power cord to power down device
