1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service

Pros: - fast thunderbolt speed

Cons: - broke after 2 weeks
- have been going back and forth with their RMA team for over a month just to get a gosh darn RMA!
- poor customer service, lack of communication in their company between departments
- expensive for poor quality product

Other Thoughts: Seriously High-Point....

I have been going back and forth with them since I mailed out the RMA request in early March. It is now Mid April and they are having me resend the same paperwork that I initially sent. I am tired of dealing with their ridiculous way of issuing RMA's (whole other story that involves making a customer profile, logging into their customer support which is only accessible through a secret link they provide, then you finally get to see their reply vs. just sending you an email).

Hopefully Newegg can issue me a refund at this point so I don't have to deal with these guys anymore.

5 out of 5 eggsSo much faster than USB – no contest!

Pros: This is a major step up from a USB 3 or 2 docking bay - if you have Thunderbolt, its well worth the cost. Currently, we are using this with a pair of MacBooks - great for moving large files between systems or unloading video (like our Blackmagic camera). Definitely recommended.

Cons: Matte and black or grey would have been nice options. Obviously not a big deal as it wasn't bought to make the office look pretty.

Other Thoughts: Unlike some I don't consider the lack of a second TB port a minus in this case. Why? Ever stop to think how much this thing would cost if it did? Its still affordable as is - but with 2 ports?

Use alcohol to clean the Thunderbolt cable connector if the RocketStor device is not detected.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Pros: Fast, and easy to use - my drives were recognized almost instantly. It even worked with and old 250 GB drive from my ancient G5 Mac.
Much faster than USB docks, even the 5422 from this same maker – if you have a Thunderbolt port, get this instead. Definitely worth the $.

Cons: None, really - it does what it says.

Other Thoughts: I have read comments about the power not working - I suspect it is cable related.
Like most Thunderbolt devices, the dock's power is controlled by the cable and the system's port - a power button is not needed. I too ran into trouble with a few cables - best invest in a cable with good feedback (just don't buy whatever is the cheapest option)!

3 out of 5 eggsCbles Should be included

Pros: Nice and compact very fast transfer speeds

Cons: Doesn't include thunderbolt cable. I thought it was DOA until I tried another thunderbolt cable that came with another drive.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Well, no pros at this point as the product never worked out of the box. No power whatsoever to the unit.

Cons: DOA out of the box. Looks like I'm not the only one to experience this. Not something I'd recommend to anyone now.

Other Thoughts: I'll give anyone a second chance. Hoping the return process to either Newegg or the vendor isn't too painful.

1 out of 5 eggsmissing the foot and DOA

Pros: If it worked, I am sure Thunderbolt speed fast...
I re-ordered one; everyone deserves a second change... right?

Cons: missing rubber foot out of the box... DOA... assuming the manufacture has poor QMC

4 out of 5 eggsHighPoint RocketStor 5212 ThunderBolt Dual Drive Dock

Pros: File transfers take half the time as my previous USB2-based solution

Cons: Does not have a power On/Off button; have to unplug power cord to power down device

Other Thoughts: My USB2/eSATA-based StarTech dual drive docks cost $55+tax/shipping; the Thunderbolt-ONLY RocketStor dual drive dock costs $220+tax/shipping.
