Best RAID6 config I've ever found...
Pros: Extremely robust configuration options on this card. If you are technically savvy, the 3DM2 configuration utility if a breeze... if you are not as savvy, it is still pretty intuitive. 3ware's technical support is the best that there is... PERIOD! I recently contacted them with questions regarding a setup using drives that are not on their tested/approved list and they were still able/willing to give me all of the information that I needed to address the minor issue that I was experiencing. RAID6 perfomance is out-of-this-world.
Cons: Absolutely none whatsoever!
Other Thoughts: I build custom media centers and high-end media servers for a living. I trust all of my build to 3ware RAID cards because they are simply the best. I particularly like the fact that they can email me with information regarding drive status/failures... this allows me to advance replace a failed drive and arrive on-site with a replacement and know exactly which drive has failed.

Worth Every Penny
Pros: Lightning fast. Storswitch technology actually works. Multiple I/O streams to different LUNs don't lower performance.
Cons: Price. Fixed cache, non-expandable. Doesn't come with discrete sata connectors. Those must be ordered from 3ware.
Other Thoughts: After doing a lot of research on RAID controllers, I went with 3ware. I was not disappointed. No noticeable performance decrease moving from RAID-5 to 6. IOMeter shows the advertised 700 MB/s transfer rates. However, sustained, single I/O streams (drag and drop) still chug along at 30-60 MB/s. Running various LUNs at different raid levels, 18 disks total, ~6TB usable storage, and this thing handles all of it.
