The 3ware SAS 9750-24i4e controller card provides a new level of system reliability, availability, and performance for businesses that are facing storage challenges driven by unprecedented data growth. Offering data transfer rates of up to 6Gb/s per port, this controller card ensures complete investment protection for existing SATA and SAS implementations. 6Gb/s SAS is designed for backward compatibility with 3Gb/s SAS as well as with 3Gb/s SATA hard drives. In addition to the internal ports, this controller comes equipped with external SAS ports which perfectly support external JBOD expansion, allowing you to connect multiple JBODs to server for a scalable and affordable solution to the growing storage requirements. Regardless of the drive speed, 6Gb/s 3ware SAS 9750-24i4e can deliver up to twice the performance level in both read and write applications as compared to their 3Gb/s predecessors.

  • newegg Support Up to 127 SATA and/or SAS Devices The 3ware 9750-24i4e SGL features hot-pluggable, SATA-compatible SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) ports to provide 6Gb/s data transfer rates for optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.
  • newegg RAID Support The 3ware 9750-24i4e SGL supports multi-level RAID configuration including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and 50 for better performance, enhanced data security and flexible capacity upgrades.
  • newegg 512MB On-board Memory The 3ware 9750-24i4e SGL features 512MB on-board DDR2 800 SDRAM for maximum data integrity.

4 out of 5 eggsGetting better with firmware.

Pros: Decent speed, high flexibility. Can support a huge number of devices.

Cons: Slow and unreliable before the firmware updates. Doesn't have a battery back-up out of the box.

Other Thoughts: RAID arrays were losing disks, disappearing completely, and locking up. Once I upgraded the firmware though with the disk from LSI's website, they became better by leaps and bounds. Now we're getting great performance. They've been up for three months solid without any issues. I would buy these cards again, but the firmware updates are a MUST.

5 out of 5 eggsto IT_Mania

Pros: reliable and powerful

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: IT_Mania, I own the 16+4 hdds version and it is reliable. You need a well ventilated case and attach a backup battery on another slot not on top of the controller. The BBU will make a huge difference

1 out of 5 eggsWhat has happened LSI?!

Pros: These 9750-24i4e's can hold a LOT of drives. This controller runs fast as well when it's working.

Cons: We have gone through 2 of these expensive $1200 RAID controllers. These things wont last longer than 2-4 months. I'm completely dumb founded as the 9750-4i's work like a charm. Something about these 9750-24i4e's are extremely unreliable and should not be used. It is a complete disaster having 60TB of data go completely offline due to these shotty controllers.

Other Thoughts: Due to my experience of going through 2 of these now, within 6 months, I cannot recommend anyone putting these 9750-24i4e's into a production server. Especially when these controllers are used for massive RAID arrays, it's to dangerous.
