Great for ZFS
Pros: Works exactly as described in IT mode (Initiator-Target aka non-raid mode) for presenting disks directly to an operating system for use with OS-level raid (Linux md, etc). I've used with ZFS under various Solaris/Illumos operating systems (Solaris 10, OpenSolaris, Nexenta, Illumian, OpenIndiana, OmniOS, etc) including under VMWare ESXi with Intel VT-d VMDirectPath PCIe passthrough mode, all functioned properly without any issues.
Cons: Upgrade both the firmware and BIOS immediately upon receipt, sometimes the cards sit in a warehouse for quite a while and ship with very outdated firmware. SAS2Flash utility supports Windows, Linux, Solaris or vSphere rCLI and only takes a minute to run.
Other Thoughts: I've had a 9200-16e since it came out in spring 2010 (same SAS 2116 chip as the 9201-16e, but a slightly different component layout) as well as multiple 9201-16e/16i cards and I've been very happy.
