A quick and simple way to add additional expansion capabilities to your system is to include an add-in card in your build. Using a simple PCI interface, the Syba controller card will fit into most PC's; just make sure you have room for an expansion card. With 2 internal Ultra ATA/133 IDE ports, the SYBA SD-ATA133I provides a simple and cost effective solution for expandability. The SD-ATA133I is backwards compatible so it will work on almost any IDE device, including CD/DVD-Rom's and hard drives.

Works great, low cost, great!
- Pros: Great price. Easy to install. Contains two IDE ports. Has optional HDD Busy Led.
I'd recommend it to anyone.
- Cons: Only 1 IDE cable is included, although two slots.
Although it comes with a driver CD, it's still a bit confusing to locate the correct driver. Make sure you find the SIL680 folder, then the Win_drv subfolder.
- Other Thoughts: Note that this is not a RAID card. Although it says it on the box, the company uses the same box for different cards - one with RAID and one without. If you're looking for a software RAID, Google "Windows Drive Spanning" (XP Pro can do it for free!).
Also, your motherboard must support UltraATA/133 mode. Most motherboards do, but that's probably why other people were having problems with it.
Another thing - make sure you check Device Manager before thinking your drive and/or card isn't working. It might just not be active, hence not showing a drive letter. Check Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management.
Optical drive recognition
- Pros: This Silicon Image-based PCI-IDE controller card had no problems with recognizing optical drives on it. It operated the UDMA-4 drives perfectly without any problems and didn't conflict with on-board IDE controllers.
- Cons: Not all optical drive brands will operate in their maximum supported transfer rate. Any drive that is not UDMA-4 will only run in Multimode DMA mode, irregardless if UDMA-2 mode is supported by the drives.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg was fast in getting the package to me.

Second Rate
- Pros: None
- Cons: Didn't work on a 12 year old industrial PC board, wanted to use it as a boot device since the onboard bios would not recognize the newer drive.
- Other Thoughts: A Promise controller did the trick just fine.
This item is advertised as "fully backward compatible", it's not. It cost 1/2 the purchase price to RMA it, with shipping.
Does what I needed
- Pros: Needed this because my new mother board has only one ATA/IDE connection. I didn't need anything fancy, just the ability to connect my four internal IDE/ATA devices to the mother board and this did the trick.
- Cons: None for what I needed.
I like it!
- Pros: Great card for adding another few IDE devices.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Good price. Good value.
