4 out of 5 eggsWorked, but not for what I needed

Pros: Did what was advertised.

Cons: Didn't work for my setup but it was specialized, so can't blame them.

Other Thoughts: Was trying to use this card in a dedicated cctv system. Windows showed the drive but the software on the system wouldn't recognize the drive. I took a shot in the dark with it but not the cards fault, the software just wasn't written to look for the drive.

1 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Every time I try to create a new mirrored array with a couple of 3TB drives it just locks up and doesn't go anywhere. Doesn't have any limitation on drive size listed, so I didn't think it would have an issue.

Other Thoughts: With shipping here and then shipping back, I'd actually end up paying more than the product cost me. Just tossing it in the recycle pile.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Due to the chipset limitation the Hardware Maximum RAID Array size is 2.3TB; Except in JBOD mode.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Since my HP branded MoBo's SATA controller died, I used this card to bypass the burned out chip, which rendera all of my 6 onboard ports totally useless. I had to re install the OS. First, I tried to Ustall Ubuntu. I used USB image, and the installation went flawless on first try, Encouraged, I wiped out tthe HD and tried Windows 7 Home. It took me several tries and I had to load the OS off USB stick while the drivers had to be loaded off other USB drive. The Home Premium version would not install at all. It always got stuck on "unable to create parttion". Finally, I tried Professional version, which finally installed. I am not sure if it was a fluke or there are some additional tools baked into professional version of Win 7. So now I have a boot HD and DVD drive attached to the card.

Cons: I wish it was faster than SATA 150 and had at least one more port. Used up my PCI port. Bracket was too small. Luckily the whole bracket can be easily detached.

Other Thoughts: This is a basic product. It saved me from buying a new MoBo and and rebuilding the whole system. Granted this setup is less than optimal. It will be slower than onboard SATA. There is no more room to expand unless new card is added. It gets 4 eggs because it does what is supposed for very reasonable price. One egg off for not warning about bracket size.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect!

Pros: Cheap, works as advertised, does what it is supposed to, PCI slot for older motherboards

Cons: LOW PROFILE!!! Meaning that the bracket will not fit your regular case expansion slots ... I didn't know what this meant when I bought the card. Luckily you can just take the bracket off and let the PCI slot hold up the card just find

5 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade for old machine

Pros: Low Profile, x2 SATA-I internal ports, supported by most modern OS's without installing drivers. Comes with 1 SATA cable (see Cons), guess that is better than none. Driver CD makes a great coaster.

Cons: Comes with 1 SATA cable, not 2?? Not that I don't already have 10-12 cables laying around LOL!

Other Thoughts: NewEgg gets 2 stars for shipping me an open package (not sold as "Opened"), poor outer shipping packaging.

5 out of 5 eggsNice solution

Pros: An easy way to get BIG SATA drives into an old computer that only has IDE.

Cons: Doesn't have external sata, but that is not for what I was looking

4 out of 5 eggsSeems to work just fine

Pros: Seems to work just fine. Had a couple of minor installation issues (see "Cons"), but it seems to be doing the job nicely. Setup (once you figure out how to do it) is very, very simple.

Cons: As to be expected, the manual (all 2 pages) leaves a lot to be desired. The first page tells you to install the card AND the drives. Then, on the second page, under the XP installation, it tells you to install the card and driver first, then turn off the machine, add the drives and reboot. The first time I pointed XP to the drivers on the enclosed CD, it couldn't find them. I then rebooted and tried again and it worked like a charm - don't know what the issue was. There are NO instructions for setting up the board and, while there is a message when you boot to press Ctrl-S or F4 to configure the board, there is NOTHING in the manual that discusses this (or the setup process). But, when you do get to that point, the setup is pretty simple. Finally, I didn't realize that this card was "low profile" (probably my own fault) so I had to remove the "L" bracket and use one from another board -- not a big deal. All these negatives aside, I'd recommend it. If I can get it working, anyone can.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent for its price

Pros: Easy installation for Window 7 64 bit OS. No driver needed. Windows automatically update the driver upon installation. Transfer speed is okay.

Cons: Did not come with the standard bracket for the slot cover. Had to modified to fit in the standard Dell E521 chassis.

Other Thoughts: Definitely a good buy.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It works in a old (no motherboard sata ports) computer repurposed as a file/print server. I get good transfer speeds to a 750GB drive hooked up to the card.

Cons: It needs to say in big letters "Low Profile" on the NewEgg page.

Other Thoughts: Had to get creative with the install, since it was a full-height PCI slot. Other than that, no problems. Driver install went very smooth.
