5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Great SSD Drive, has not given me any issues. I use this primarily for working on large Photoshop Files or 3D rendering.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: None, just wish I bought a mount for it.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks but not as much as expected

Pros: Works great with most computers even with cheap one. Great price. Comes with sata cables and everythings.

Cons: Only 40MB/S in read write on a raid 1.Can't get it to work with two 3TB hard drives, the max I can get is 2047 GB even on a P8Z77v -lk motherboard. Behind that capacity the card just froze the whole system.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with the quality of this controller card.

Please check that the motherboard/BIOS is up-to-date, and that any system updates have been applied.

Note that the RAID Array Maximum size is 2.3TB.

Our tech support team is more than happy to provide any information you may need when

installing a device.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat with Solaris ZFS

Pros: I've been running two of these non-stop for over two years in JBOD mode with no issues. (8) 1 TB drives in a RAIDZ2 Vdev on OpenSolaris and Oracle Solaris.

Cons: Not x8 PCIe, but not a big deal

Other Thoughts: I've tested the port multiplier features, and they work fine.

2 out of 5 eggsFailed after 1.5 yrs

Pros: Worked great for first year and a half. I have had this card running in a desktop system that I used in a lab. Although it was nothing fancy it worked for what I needed.

Cons: The short life span. The card is not a high performer and seem to lose connection to the drive on occasion where I needed to reboot the system in order to get the drives to come back on-line. I think this thing that annoyed me the most was the intermittent drive drops and reboots of the system. At first it happened once or twice a month but as time past the reboots became more frequent. Now, the drive appears in Windows and all looks good but as soon I try to copy anything to it, the system locks and I have reboot to release it.

Other Thoughts: Now, maybe I just a bad card so remember that my review is base on my experience. I have used other SYBA products that I have my lab they seem to be working fine. However, this is my second RAID controller that has died on me so just maybe there is an issue with this line of RAID cards that they make.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

The controller you received may have a hardware issue. It is not normal for the card to drop hard drives during file transfers.

Note that our controllers have a 3 year manufacturer's warranty for a new replacement.

As you know we are more than happy to provide our customers with a hassle free exchange when a product is defective.

SYBA offers an online RMA form, the user can easily fill out the form and submit it for a quick RMA return and exchange. It is SYBA's policy to answer all customer inquiries within 24 hours (M-F)

2 out of 5 eggsNot good for longevity

Pros: This is a great card while it works. I had no problems getting it setup and working on a Windows Server 2008 R2 system. Performance was not great but it worked as a small file server.

Cons: One year and three months later this card as now just stopped working. It was not sudden as it started to drop drives randomly and through put dropped to an unacceptable level (below 2mb per second). I thought it was the network but after change the system and putting the card and drives in another system the problem persisted. Checked this drive and replaced two of them as a precaution but it seems the issue was with controller.

Other Thoughts: As I mentioned, the card worked fine while it worked but would not have expected it fail after 1.5 years of rather light use.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Note that all our controllers have a 3 year manufacturer warranty for a new replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsRAID 1 in production server

Pros: Worked perfectly from day one

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Needed to add some storage to an existing Windows 2003 R2 server so I got this card and a couple Hitachi 1 TB enterprise drives. Other similar cards did not work but this one did. I mirrored the drives RAID 1 and all works well. Going on two years now.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks - With Help

Pros: 4 Ports.
Compatible with my Biostar TPower I55 PEX4-1 slot.
Supports Win7 x64.
Can feed an eSATA drive (or more, presumably) with the appropriate case bracket (not included).

Cons: Manual in error.

Other Thoughts: Manual says to go to D:/Silicon_Image/SIL3124 (etc.).
Tech support says that's wrong. In Device Manager right click and choose Update Driver, then manually tell Windows where to look.

With the driver disc in your optical drive, show the location as D: (or whatever) only and let Windows decide what to pick and in what subfolders.

Btw, running in JBOD, so can't comment on any RAID behavior. But, the card sees my drives just fine, and so does Winders, so I'm happy. :-)

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: -Downloaded drivers and had them waiting
-Got card promptly from Newegg
-Installed card, added 2 separate RAID paired drives
-Booted up and pointed card to drivers, installed RAID software, rebooted
-logged on, created 2 sets of striped arrays with the software
-NEVER LOOKED BACK!!!

Been "Perfect!" ever since...

Cons: someone stupid idiot will try this card and will have some 'nightmare from hell' install experience and will bash the card, the manufacturer, and Newegg because they couldn't take a moment and ReadTheFManual!!!

Other Thoughts: 'nuff said

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well for JBOD

Pros: I purchased this card only in order to add 4 SATA ports to my system, not for RAID functionality. For that purpose, it's working well. Its Silicon Image controller causes much less delay in boot-up time than the Marvell controller used by an add-on card that I have in a similar system.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if Syba offered this 4-port card in an SATA III PCIE-x4 version with 3.0Gb/s speed.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed all around

Pros: None

Cons: Bought this after reading that it would work with Home Server 2011 with the lasted drivers, hoping to RIAD my new HDs. Updated the drivers system recognized the card and then my problems began. I rebooted and entered the RAID setup and setting up RAID it proceeded to freeze my system. Rebooted and made it to the windows logo screen and it froze there every time. Attempted to run a Windows system repair and the system froze, finally frustrated I removed the card and was able to boot with no problems. So I decide to let my friend try the card with his Windows 7 system and he experienced the same issues. Now I sitting with a useless card and if I return it I will only get about half of my money returned.

Other Thoughts: Requested an RMA from Newegg and for the first time ever I was disappointed by Newegg. They are going to charge me a fee and I had to pay return postage. Maybe I didn't selcet the right reason for RMA.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We do apologize, but this card does not support Home Server 2011 as it is not listed as one of the supported OS in the user manual.
