5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Hardware RAID

Pros: Easy to install, detected immediately by Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. Mirroring 2 1TB WD Black drives.
Have it plugged into an ASUS Mobo on the H61 Chipset.

Cons: None at the moment

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine, Once Set Up

Pros: Easy install, once the instructions are deciphered.
Set up RAID1 on a pair of velociraptors, and it has worked flawlessly from the beginning.

Cons: Instructions are not very clear.
Sometimes hangs just before BIOS screen, on startup. Need to keep re-starting until it opens BIOS SCREEN. (Once it does, boot is normal.)

Other Thoughts: Prior to setup, the BIOS screen is a quick flash while booting. It's necessary to hit the cntrl + M during that screen. If you miss it, you have to re-boot.

Included driver (Marvell) replaced driver for MOBO onboard Marvell SATA ports, which disabled the onboard ports (raid card still worked.) Had to update back to latest driver for MOBO, and it runs both the onboard ports and the RAID card w/ no issues. (Never needed to install card's driver in the first place.)

2 out of 5 eggsCan't get it to work

Pros: Windows recognizes it and the drivers supplied install fine in Windows, but that's it.

Cons: Installed and connected 2 brand new SATA III 2TB hard drives, the only instructions that come with it say
"Turn on your computer, follow the prompt, and press Ctrl+M for the RAID setup screen."
I get no prompt, Ctrl+M does nothing, it just boots into windows.
Tried changing all BIOS configurations with no improvement.
The drives are visible in windows (diskmgmt.msc) but individually, not as RAID.

When I connect optical IDE drive the mobo wont even get past post, let me access boot menu or BIOS. Tried different IDE cable, tried with nothing else connected, still no boot.

Maybe my card is defective or maybe it's incompatible with my mobo... but I'm 12 hours in and fed up.

mobo is Intel BOXDQ45EK

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

There is a quick fix to your problem. Go into the BIOS setup and turn off the SPLASH SCREEN function.

This Splash Screen on/off feature suppose to make the bootup procedure faster. However, it stops user from access to third party controller card options.

To boot from the HD connected to our card, you might need to reinstall Windows.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy as 1,2,3

Pros: I wanted to upgrade and older PN5-D motherboard to the newer 6 Gb/S. I basically just plugged this in, connected my drives and set up the raid. I installed Win 7. It didn't even ask for the driver disk. Works like a champ.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Easy and cheap. Good upgrade for an older system.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected.

Pros: No problems. Followed the instructions to install to a recent Win7-64 system, connected two new identical 2Gig drives, selected mirror, went to Win Storage Management to format/activate the virtual single drive.
Also connected an IDE optical drive to save the few bucks that buying a SATA one would cost.
All is good.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Wanted this card to run the RAID so that the motherboard BIOS didn't have to manage RAID drives, allowing me to run an SSD boot drive and several non-RAID HDs in AHCI. The card's Marvel BIOS only slows down Win7 boot by half a second or so.
