4 out of 5 eggsWorks on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10... odd installation

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: It works. I am actually rather surprised that it works on Windows 10, since at the time of installation there was no 'official' drivers for Windows 8.1 even.

Cons: Drivers. Unless they have provided updated drivers, you will need to pull some interesting witchcraft.

1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Exact same result as reviewer on 5/24/2015. Attached to MSI AM1I board. As soon as I add a HDD to the sata port on this card, Windows 7 crashes at boot when windows logo shows up. Running latest BIOS with all updated drivers for motherboard. Also updated the card drivers and made sure SATA config set to AHCI.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with this controller card.

Please ensure that you have completed a reinstall/repair of the OS as this is necessary to boot to attached drives.

Our tech support team is happy to assist you with any installation or configuration for this card.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent for the price

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Easy to install and has a decent speed for PCI-E 1x, cheap

Cons: Every month or so I have to reseat the card as it starts to generate micro-stutters errors in the Event Viewer "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort3" and "The IO operation at logical block address 0x5bde76 for Disk 1 (PDO name: \Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP3T0l0-5) was retried.". Once I start getting the errors, I'll just shut down as soon as I can, pull the card out, swap the SATA port my SSD is attached to, plug the card back in and it'll be fine for a month or so.

Other Thoughts: I've just lived with the issues cause I can't afford a higher quality card (i'd like a faster on), but I'd recommend going with the Syba SD-PEX40054 if you can.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with this controller.

Please ensure that you have the latest BIOS flash for your motherboard.

Also check that you have set the motherboard to AHCI mode to support the controller.

Download the latest drivers for the card from our website.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Good

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Works good. Installed with ease, loaded the Asmedia 1061 drivers from the disc and all good. Installed this on a Z97 board with 6 sata ports, now I can have a 5 or 6 drive Raid config and still have Bd and dvd player.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Worth the money.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT A RAID CONTROLLER

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Why is this list under

Controllers / RAID Cards > Syba > Item#: N82E16816124045

And called "RAID CARD SYBA| SY-PEX40039 R" on the email and invoice. ?? I think someome messed up and got confused with the SYBA SI-PEX40089

Cons: usless,not raid

Other Thoughts: Hi,I think there has been some cufusion with an item i bought recently .
And if i have to return t want new egg to pay for the shipping or at least agree to expedite ship the proper thing for free once i have shipped back the dud card.
Your website has some misleading informartion that if true i will need to return the tiem asap as it will be usless to me
This is what was sold as per the email i got earlier ...
Sold under the section" Servers & Workstations > Controllers / RAID Cards > Syba > Item#: N82E16816124045 "
"RAID CARD SYBA| SY-PEX40039 R" "NOTE 16-124-045 is Iron Egg Qualified"
This item is sold under the "raid controller" sectoin of your website but apperently is not a raid controller and it in fact just two sata 6 controllers on a 2x pci-e 2.0 pipe line .
However the SYBA SY-PEX40039 has no raid controller on it at all therefore is not classified s a raid controller but as a sata host card.
please corrent the website errorr.ps this is ptobably more like what i need for a few bucks more .

5 out of 5 eggsFits in x1 Slot for 380MB/s Speed

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Adds 2 extra SATA ports to your system at low cost.

Upgrades older SATA II systems from 280MB/s max. speed up to 380MB/s.

Cons: none at the price

Other Thoughts: Someone mentioned they are "not getting SATA III speed". This is an "x1 slot" card which means it has 1 lane of bandwidth. Do your homework before you buy!

To achieve full SATA III speed of 500MB/s or faster please consider an x2 controller card. An x2 card goes in an x4 slot because there are no x2 slots on your motherboard. An example of these faster cards would be SYBA SD-PEX40054 which is available here.

Don't forget to boot into BIOS after connecting a boot drive to this card and make sure it is selected as the "first boot device"; otherwise, Windows won't boot up!

2 out of 5 eggsNot happy

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Works in my 2009 mobo. Fits in x16 slot.
Mobo recognizes the drives.
Drives are recognized as sata III 6G

Cons: Does not reach sata III 6G speeds, it only reaches sata II speeds. The drive is a sata III SSD and I've got one of the lowest benchmarks for the drive because its still topping out as 3G/s

Other Thoughts: I used the Included cable for this.
I've got a "sata 3" cable on order for a new build, will try it but I do not have hope.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsBoot up failure. Crash.

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: None.

Cons: I am using a MSI AM1I Motherboard. The BIOS recognizes devices that are connected to the SATA ports on the card, but Windows 7 won't boot when any device is connected to either SATA port on the card. When I successfully boot Windows 7 with no devices connected to either SATA port on the card, and then connect a device to one of the SATA ports on the card, Windows 7 crashes.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: -worked right away, even before installing the drivers
- 2 more SATA ports
- great price

Cons: -not getting SATA III speeds

Other Thoughts: I got this to get more out of my 850EVO SSD which was used in a SATA II port, I saw no in improvement it actually takes a few seconds longer to boot, Random read and writes are pretty much the same two.I'm a little disappointed but i didn't expect a great improvement. on the up side i got 2 more SATA ports

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with this controller card.

Our tech support team is more than happy to provide any information you may need when determining the compatibility and specification of a device.

Our tech support team may also assist you with installing and configuring this device for your system.

Please note that when installing the card your OS may automatically install generic device drivers. While these will allow the card to function they will not allow you to utilize the card at SATAIII speeds.
