1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me either

Pros: Seems like a good idea

Cons: Just won't be recognized by my system.
Like so many other reviews here, getting this card to work is a crapshoot. May work for you, may not for it is VERY MB / BIOS dependent.
I have two mini PCIe slots, one is short, holding a Wireless card, the other held a AVerMedia TV card, which is worthless now that ClearQAM is gone for me. SO, I put mine in that slot, knowing it works.
System does not recognize the existence of the card . I see here from other that you should see the cards BIOS initialize when you start the computer, I have seen this before with desktop SCSI and RAID cards when you start the computer and they load in.
I tried it all, the re-seating people suggested, nothing worked. Saw nothing. Windows 7 sees nothing.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money. OR buy it, try it, Doesn't Work? send it back. It would have been a nice addition. Oh Well

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Additional SATA ports with a mini pci-e slot nice!

Cons: Cheap and instable.
Randomly freeze my additional sata ports on my atom nas server.

Other Thoughts: Worked well for a few days then after that the board freeze randomly.
Tried in another atom board same thing!

3 out of 5 eggsHave Not Gotten This To Work Yet

Pros: The promise of adding 2 more SATA ports to a simple with the simplicity of plugging in this card and possibly loading a driver.

Nothing to configure on the card. There is 1 pair of pins for a HDD activity LED (per the instruction paper), but I did not test them.

Cons: I tried this card on a Supermicro motherboard (X10SBA) that has both mSATA and mini PCIe slots.

I did not expect the card to work in the mSATA slot, and it did not work in that slot because they are designed for mSATA cards only.

I hoped the card would work in the mini PCIe slot, but it did not work in my case.

I looked for settings in the system BIOS but could not find any related to the mini PCIe slot. The mini PCIe slot on this Supermicro board is mapped through a USB 2.0 hub chip. Perhaps that is the issue (the mapping) because the USB 2.0 ports from the same hub chip all work fine.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 other boards, 1 from MSI and 1 from Intel, to test this card. It might work in those systems.

The package does not include any necessary mini PCIe mounting post and screw; you have to provide that if it is missing on your system.

I doubt the card is defective. I just think this type of add-in card is "very particular" about what it is connecting to "inside" the system. One day when I have more time I will figure out the limitations of this little card.

One more thought: it's not worth the hassle for me to RMA this card.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Works pretty much as advertised.

Cons: Didn't work at first, had to really muscle it into its slot after reseating it several times.

Other Thoughts: I plugged this into my (very cheap) Intel Atom D510 motherboard used in my NAS build, and it works about as well as I expected.

Since it's a mini-PCIe, you have to have an *actual* mini-PCIe slot on you motherboard, or this is a no-go. It's about an inch wide, and it's the same type of slot used for WiFi cards on most laptops. It will not plug into just any motherboard!

Also to keep in mind, as reviewer "D." pointed out, at first nothing on my system saw it. Not the BIOS POST messages, not Ubuntu, and dmidecode was showing the PCI-e slot was "available", ie. unused. I realized that after you plug it in and press it into place flush against the board (a two-step process), you have to really shove the card in against its slot. You'll feel it noticeably shift in its position. Then I booted up and everything saw it fine.

I now have a port multiplier JBOD raid tower plugged in over eSATA and it's all working fine.

1 out of 5 eggsNot surprised.

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: Doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: I knew this could be a crapshoot, going in. SYBA is pretty hit-or-miss.

This card is not recognized in, or outside of my systems. There's no POST output, or indication it exists. BIOS doesn't see it, Ubuntu can't see it, Windows can't see it.

The driver setup for both the CD, and internet downloaded, just error out on Windows.

Useless.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Did you connect this card into a Mini-PCIe slot? Some people confuse a mSATA slot is the same as a mini PCIe slot. However, they are completely different interfaces. This is most likely the cause of why it was not functioning properly as you expected.

According to the chipset, this device is bootable and recognized as a native device on the motherboard.
