5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: I did benchmarks running a SSD drive hooked up to SATA II, SATA III with no drivers and SATA III with drivers. Wow is all I can saw with this card. My speeds went from 100k to 500k to 3M megs per second on the read and writes. Use to take 10 min to boot now at 3min total time.

Cons: None I love this card.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed very quickly, never RMA'ed

Pros: It seemed like a dream come true. But it was too good to be true.

Cons: RAIDs were unstable and failed after only a few hours or minutes. Eventually became unusable. I was sick of messing with it so I didn't want a replacement and it was too late to get a refund.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, good price

Pros: - Does what it says it will do.
- Small bracket included for lower-height installs.
- Breathes new life into an X58 board with older, miserable 9128 Marvell chip that didn't deliver promised speeds.

Cons: - When installing onto a mobo with older Marvell 9128 Marvell controller (i.e. X58 era), I found it best to disable the older controller in the mobo BIOS. Otherwise, CTRL-M to get into the Marvell BIOS didn't work properly.
- Confusing number of drivers found on the internet. At the time of this writing, v 1.2.0.1038, found on the CD in the box, seems best.
-Somebody else mentioned the non-locking SATA cables that come in the box, but you've probably got better ones hanging around anyway...

Other Thoughts: - Confusing number of drivers found on the internet. At the time of this writing, v 1.2.0.1038, found on the CD in the box, seems best.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Cheap, works, raid 10, hasn't died yet, easy to configure

Cons: This is a pretty cheap controller that will get you redundancy but won't help much for read speed. I have it set for a raid 10 array with 4 4tb 7200 rpm drives, only get 60MB/s cage activity light indicates it only reads from two disks at a time meaning it is reading only one of each stripe but not the mirror of the stripe so your read speeds are half of your theoretical for given drives.

Other Thoughts: Its $40 I wasn't expecting anything great and that is what I got, if you want the performance you gonna need to pay more.

Heat sink gets quite hot, I don't have any airflow past it being an open air case so I worry about the longevity.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Work

Pros: None

Cons: Everything

First of all the device I received came in a box that was already opened. I tried every method to install this but it just would not work. I followed every step of instruction but got nothing. The device would show that it's installed and working, but the moment I connect a hard drive or any other drive, it just stops working. My computer restarts and freezes on Windows 7 load screen, same thing with Windows 8.

I most likely got a defective piece, seeing that it came with the box already opened. Also the instructions were a bit hard to follow on the manual and installing the drivers from the CD is a pain since there are so many unnecessary install files and folders.

I am disappointed with the product, I now have to resort to using Sata II speed instead.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: used this with 2 older Samsung 830's 128 gb and a new $100 Toshiba 3tb drive in Hyperduo Raid. Now it's like I have a 3tb ssd! My speeds are slightly faster than one of the 830's by itself. I replaced my 830's with an 840 evo 240 gb. Great investment.

Cons: none so far

1 out of 5 eggsI didn't even receive a functional card

Pros: Would have been great if I had received a product that was real and working.

Cons: I opened my newegg package today to see a product that was not a Syba product. The included card was not even able to fit into a PCI-E slot. The ports were both 11 pins and it was completely unusable. I have since RMAd what I have received.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for maximizing your SSD throughput with an older motherboard

Pros: I needed a SATA III adapter for my old ASUS P6T Deluxe (V1) that could keep up with my SSD (an aging, though still fairly fast Crucial Performance Pro). First I tried an SI-PEX40064 and while that worked better than the inbuilt controller, it was limited to about 400MB/sec. This one, however, has no such issue and works great. ATTO resulted in nearly 500MB/sec readings for both read and write, which is about as good can be expected.

Cons: A minor complaint. The included SATA cables are not the locking type.
