Pros: -it might work with Windows.

Cons: -does not with with Ubuntu 14.04 on my computer. This is my second one, and neither worked. I thought it might be a power issue, so I spent time with different configurations, on both cards. Both would run for a while, and then drop drives when accessed.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately for me, I spent my 30 days trying to make these cards work, so no refund. I will put them online for sale in case someone wants them for Windows.

Pros: Plug it in and it works in Ubuntu.

I installed this in a low-profile situation, and the ports are correctly placed facing out the back of the card as in the images.

Cons: None

Pros: Works on old boards -- mine is an old Biostar TP43E. Seems to give very good speeds -- easily gives ~100MB/s to a drive ruuning SATA2 (WD-2TB). Haven't checked it with faster drives.
Ubuntu has support for the Marvel controllers so it worked out of the box with ubuntu on a 3.16 Linux Kernel

Cons: Metal bracket on the back had some fit and interference issue (seemed to be a little high).

Other Thoughts: GIven the price this is a cheap upgrade to older boards with a PCI-e x4 type slot -- so rather cheap way to add 2 extra SATA connections. Performance is relatively good with the Marvel controllers.

Pros: Works well in my Dell Dimension 9200 (aka XPS 410) running Windows 7. I am booting from a Samsung 840 EVO SSD drive connected to this card.

Cons: Drivers provided on the Syba website are an old and unreliable version. With those drivers, I had a BSOD every day.

Because the packaging also has the name IOCREST, I went to their website where I found much newer drivers that are more reliable.

Other Thoughts: Syba needs to keep their drivers up to date

Pros: Cheap, great bang for the buck. Breathe life into old PC without SATA3 ports. SSD on this card running at SATA3 on PCIe bus, smoking fast!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I used this controller card with a 2011 intel board, and a Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR240GB SSD. Great boot times, <:40 seconds on win7 & win8. If you are on the fence, just get it, you will be pleased.

Pros: None

Cons: It does not work on win 8, or it's DOA. Basically they sold me an IOCrest branded junk that is non functional. I am sure they will charge a steep price to replace it a few times, increasing their profit immensely.

Just avoid this product and company.

Pros: Basic simple does what it needs to do

Cons: It qualifies for the new Premier Membership from Newegg.
I have a prefeered credit account and a bill me later account. I have asked Newegg's customer support several times if I could still use the credit services they're ne Premier Premier Membership they will not answer that question

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure why Newegg's customer service will not answer that simple question I have to credit cards that Newegg accepts i just can't find out if they will accept them if I become a premium member. I know you have to purchase the premier membership with visa or mastercard but onc. your a premier member can you use your bill me later or Newegg perferd credit account? I have $4000 in credit from my Newegg charge card can i use it

Pros: I purchased this card after finding out that it works with unRAID and Xpenology DSM 4.2 and 4.3 (no configuration needed)

Simple plug and play design with both NAS solutions. Drivers were auto-found in Linux and was able to add the hard drives to my NAS with no trouble.

Able to use 2x cards (for 4 ports total) with no IRQ or hardware conflicts

Works as intended with proper 6.0 gb/s speeds recorded

Cons: non what so ever.

Other Thoughts: If you are needing to expand your SATA ports this is a great product, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Perfect solution for unRAID and Xpenology.

Pros: works without issue. installed in server 2012 and used for storage spaces. Have not experienced any issues using it so far after about 6 months.

Cons: none to speak of

Pros: Easily to install. Works right out of the box.

Cons: This card works out of the box but be extremely careful and be aware of its dangers:
One it is installed, the moment you remove it and reboot Windows (I'm using Windows 7 64-bit), your system will crash on start up complaining about changes in hardware configuration. Putting the card back in will not resolve the boot-up failure. If you move the card to a different slot after it has been installed and recognized by Windows will also result in a boot-up failure. No amount of start-up repair will fix the issue. Not even going back to Last Known Good Configuration will fix the issue. I had to restore to a backup image created prior to installing the card before I was able to boot my machine back to Windows.

Another bug is when you hot unplug a drive connected to this card, it takes a while for the computer to recognize that the drive has been unplugged, hence the drive letter(s) will still show up under Explorer for a minute or two. At times you will need to restart your pc for the drive letters to be unmounted.
