5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Excellent product that comes with everything you should need, including a driver diskette. This card worked great in a very aged system (running XP) to utilize a SATA HDD I had lying around, as the MB is this rig was IDE only. Great buy.

Cons: The external SATA ports were a bit misaligned on an old (read: ancient) Dell case, yet was not a real issue.

Other Thoughts: This is a great kit and seemed to be quite versatile in its application. The included diskette came in handy with an XP install.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive kit

Pros: I was very impressed when I opened the box.

Comes with two (2) SATA cables, two (2) Molex-to-SATA power adapters, one (1) UDMA ATA cable, low profile brackets, drivers on CD AND Floppy.

Drivers on floppy comes in handy for using this card while installing Win XP on an older machine. No need to make your own driver disk!

Oh yeah, and the card itself works pretty good, too.

Cons: None that I can see.

5 out of 5 eggsRecommended Purchase

Pros: The card is compatible with a program called Jungle Flasher. That is the reason I bought it. I could not be happier right now. This is the most affordable solution for running Jungle Flasher if your motherboard does not have a compatible SATA connection. Jungle Flasher is used to do advanced functions to XBOX DVD drives. It can help you repair them in many cases by transferring security information from your old drive to your new one. I am so glad my XBOX is working now. I will also be using this controller to connect new devices to my computer, which is what it is designed for. The external SATA ports are great. The PATA ports will allow me to hook up legacy devices as well. All of this for Newegg's price is unbeatable. The shipping was very good as well. Not my first Rosewill product and certainly not the last.

Cons: The external SATA ports don't work with Jungle Flasher because it looks for the drive on SATA port 0. The external ones are number 3 and 4. This is the only con and causes me to have to open my computer to use the program. Not a big deal though.

Other Thoughts: Definitely purchase this card it is a great buy and will save you time and money when connecting devices to your computer. The drivers are plug-in-and-play with newer operating systems and the driver diskette and CD are only needed on older Operating Systems like Windows 98.

5 out of 5 eggsWORKS GREAT!

Pros: Installed and working on a DELL B110 for a 1TB Seagate SATA drive.

Cons: Wasn't recognized in first PCI slot used, that slot now keeping an nVidia video card. So only (small) con would be to mention this in the instructions, that if not recognized, try another. Some users can be slow to realize this (like me!) Got this info from a search.

Other Thoughts: Don't go with those little Chinese adapters, they're worthless. Only was to go is with an actual adapter card and THIS one is an excellent choice 1) low price and 2) it does what it says. After inserting, just install drivers and awaaay weee gooooo! :D

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Had an older system I wanted to add a sata drive to. Just using the internal ports I plugged the card in, plugged the drives in, made one tweak to the bios of the system for booting, and it worked perfectly. System is running great!

Cons: None that I can see for what I am using it for.

2 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 11 months

Pros: It was a very good RAID Card during the time it was working.

Cons: It just stopped working after 11 months of use. I moved it to a different PCI slot and it still didn't work. I attached the hard drives to different SATA ports directly on the motherboard and they work fine, so I know they are not the problem.

Other Thoughts: Right now, my rating is a 2 because things just shouldn't stop working after 11 months.

5 out of 5 eggsNice addition to old motherboard

Pros: Breathes new life into my old motherboard that only had PATA-33. I can continue to use my existing PATA-100 drives and upgrade to SATA when I need more capacity. The VIA chip used in this card is well supported by Linux. Great product for the money.

Cons: Manual has some minor flaws and looks as if it has not been updated in a while. For example, it says to press TAB to get into the BIOS setup for the card, but it's actually CTRL+Z according to the card's splash screen.

Other Thoughts: I read some reviews where people complaining about slow SATA I speeds. This is a limitation of the 32-bit, 33MHz PCI bus that the card plugs into, not the card itself. There's just not enough PCI bandwidth to support SATA II speeds. Wikipedia and a little basic math are all it took to figure this out.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product

Pros: Came with every cable you could need, easy to install, great product.

Cons: had to manually load the driver because xp was being goofy. but there were only like five drivers on the disk so it wasn't much of a problem.

Other Thoughts: Great product rosewill!
