1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Product / Bad Description

Pros: Makes the end-user appreaciate the quality in other high-end brandnames.

Cons: - HDD indicator lights do NOT work - they are not hooked up to the backpane.
- Fans run at 100% all the time, you can't adjust the speed even though the GUI in the expander box says you can.
- Powered by a cheap desktop grade power supply.
- Seriously messy wiring inside; non-existant cable management.
- HDD Power LEDS are inconsistant brightness - some are dull while others are very bright. This gives the product a very unprofessional look / feel.
- Manf. clearly reused a case from another project; as there are LAN lights (two of them); and a reset button that is completely useless (they don't do anything).
- The front power button doesn't work. To get it working you have to jumper J3 on the PCB inside.
- No manual! Password is 0000

My biggest complaint would be their technical support. I called Norco to get some answers. Their "only" technical support guy was out of the office. They kept telling me to e-mail them. Finally I just gave up and will NEVER buy a Norco product ag

Other Thoughts: Buy anything else except this; clearly the product was slapped together with spare components. Norco has just cost-cut me as an enduser. This product is junk, and their technical support is non-existant.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple, effective

Pros: I purchased this unit to provide simple plug-in expansion. It worked like a charm. I spent more time attaching drives to trays than getting the setup humming and configured.

Cons: Does not come with the interface cable. That's not much of a negative, but considering that the controller supports only one type of cable connector, they should've dropped one in.

Other Thoughts: Doesn't have a redundant power supply. Not horribly bad, but something to keep in mind.
