Pros: This unit uses RAID, USB 3.0 and eSATA 6 and includes rack mounting hardware and is inexpensive.

Cons: I purchased two of these units and they are not dependable for reading data. Setup as 4 drive stripe and copied data on to the drives without a problem but when trying to read the data by copying or running to a tape the unit stops responding and causes the copy or the tape job to fail. This happens consistently with both the units I purchased. I have also tried a RAID 5 config which also had issues.

Other Thoughts: Don't purchase this unit it, you get what you pay for and this unit does not work for even simple read operations

Pros: I was able to add 12GB of attached storage to a Mac without much fuss.

Cons: RAID5 is agonizingly slow, but this was to be expected. This is for the deadest of dead storage so the storage premium over the performance of a straight mirror is worthwhile.

Other Thoughts: Seems awfully expensive relative to other 4-drive RAID enclosures,

Pros: I don't own this but it looks VERY cool. Have looked at the manufacturers site and it has everything I could ask for! Would be VERY excited to see a review of this soon.

Cons: It probably has a slow built in RAID function... However, keep the array in JBOD and map those drives to an Openfiler / FreeNas box and you are in business...
