5 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT - Ignore bad reviews

Pros: This is a very nice device. Looks sharp and works fine. I have just backed up 3TB, using 3 different sata drives. All of them worked flawlessly. Put the drive in turn it on, and bam drive shows up. Copied a total of 3TB+. Speeds between 90 and 140mpbs depending on what was being copied.

Very sturdy USB 3.0 cables come with it. Plugged into the motherboard rear usb 3.0 ports and works great.

Got on sale, and with a rebate for a total cost of 3 bones - you can't beat that with a stick

Cons: Nothing!

Other Thoughts: Other people even complaining about the rubber feet. Here is the deal. You get a square rubber sticky pad. It has 4 circles already punched in it, you simply pop out the 4 circles and put them in the bottom of the dock, in the 4 recessed circles. You don't need to cut anything and they are custom made to fit the device. How others can mess this up I do not understand.

All four of my drive were quiet. This sat on top of my aluminum case. I have 3 fans in my computer and with all the fans I can just baaaaarely hear my drives running.

If you see on sale with a rebate JUMP on this. If you need one even without a rebate, it is easily worth $20

3 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Inexpensive, fast, and compact

Cons: Under load, the dock frequently disconnects from USB.

Other Thoughts: This Mediasonic dock is good value for money, and has been reliable for casual use.
If my backup method didn't recover so easily from the disconnects, I would replace this with the USB3 version of my old BlacX dock.
Rebate warning: I mailed in the rebate, waited the 6-8 weeks and then some, and finally called. The rep confirmed they received my paperwork about a week or two after I mailed it (but wouldn't say the date). Then they said it's now 8-12 weeks from whenever they received it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended.

Pros: Windows 7 recognized it right away with no issues. Does exactly as advertised. Nice gadget to have if you have spare drives lying around.

Cons: Can lose connection if it reaches 50C operating temperature, though only had that issue with an old 10k drive. Haven't had any issue with other drives that operate below 50C.

Other Thoughts: Don't know why this is called "Hot-Swappble" when the manual itself says otherwise, but not really an issue. The DIY rubber feet is rather amusing, but also not an issue. Just keep your drives below 50C and the device should work as intended.

1 out of 5 eggsDid I get the bad one? STAY AWAY.....

Pros: 1) Plug and play

Cons: 1) Plays 10 seconds of videos before losing connection and automatically connecting again
2) Crashes (ex: loses connection and automatically reconnects) if you try transferring more than 250gb's of content (using a 4tb HGST drive)
3) Light on front is bright

Other Thoughts: No, it works like c r a p. There is nothing reliable about it. It took me forever to copy files to it cause it kept crashing during the process, causing me to restart. Get something with better reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsGood inexpensive HDD docking station.

Pros: Inexpensive (I just bought another one in white for $2.99 after MIR)
Works as well as any of these type devices do. I use several of these at work and home and never have a problem.

Cons: The DIY rubber feet. Really, this company couldn't die cut the rubber pad?
I cut up old thick mousepads to use as padding under these devices, they can get noisy even with little rubber feet. Not just this brand.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this.
The negative reviews I have read are for issues not caused by this device.
Hot swapping is something you do with a SATA or eSATA connection not USB.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Deal, Decent Quality

Pros: Great deal, $5 after sale price & rebate. USB3 cable is heavy duty and seems good quality. The power supply was only a little bit warm after powering a 3.5 inch drive for about 4 hours.

Cons: Acronis True Image 2014 does not recognize the device. I’m not deducting an egg because I don’t think it’s a problem with the dock. It is a disappoint though, because I wanted to use this combination to clone drives. I will need to find different cloning software that has compatible drivers.

Other Thoughts: The dock worked just fine with a USB2 port and Windows 10. I don't have any computers with USB3, so I can't speak to that. The dock itself is pretty light weight plastic and I'm not sure it would hold up to heavy duty usage. I think it will be OK for occasional usage.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Product

Pros: It turned on. No joke this is the only pro for it.

Cons: First off this sucker would crash at transferring at about 300gb files. It would just disconnect and I'd have to replug in it. 3.5 drives sit in this thing at a 80 degree angle. Smart checks would not work correctly with this either. The drives would get way hotter than inside my tower.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend something made by a different company.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a good product

Pros: inexpensive.

Cons: would not work for me on any USB3.0 port. Tried 2 drives - found both but failed to display content of either.
