This review is from: Cavalry CADA-SA4-S Series EN-CADA4SU3E-ZB RAID 0/1/3/5/10, Clone, JBOD 4 3.5" Drive Bays USB 3.0: 5 Gbit/s (max) eSATA: 3 Gbit/s (max) USB 3.0 + eSATA RAID 4-Bay Disk Array (Silver)
Pros: -Beautiful case and simple design. -With instructions should have it out of the box and running with a raid setup in around 10 minutes. -Switch to turn individual hd lights on/off(some less expensive models you will have to put tape over if you don't like the lights). -Trays pull out and insert relatively easily(when empty) (-1 egg, see 'Other thoughs' for why)
Cons: -bright blue power button(no off switch for this one) -a very very poorly designed power supply(-1 egg, see 'Other thoughts' for why) -RAID software that it comes with(-1 egg, see 'Other thoughts' for why) -Trays are very hard to remove once a disk has been inserted and locked in. -eSata cable that was in mine was partially bent up(probably by shipping).
Other Thoughts: -1 for power supply: The power supply (at least mine, maybe mines just a defect) was a real pain. It has two parts a plug-in cable that runs to a power brick to the unit. Well that connection from the plug-in cable to the power brick is very difficult to get in fully. I had mine in fairly far(I thought) and when I had to move it, ended up having it separate and bruise my ankle. When I put it back together again I pushed and pushed, but it still would not go too far, trick I later found was to push and wiggle it left and right, finally got it all the way in.
-1 for RAID software. Once installed the RAID software will add itself to your start-up. Problem is it will randomly(even when the unit is idle) spike a little bit of the processor. I was in the middle of using Photoshop, only to notice my computer was extremely sluggish. I opened up Task manager to find the normal 10-15% processor spike from the software was now at 85% and sitting.
