5 out of 5 eggsbrother-named DR-350 Drum

Pros: Installed like a charm in 2 or 3 minutes
No smudges, no problems, smooth as silk

Cons: Pricey

Other Thoughts: Our Brother DCP 7020 was actually a printer someone discarded in the back alley. I took it in, downloaded software and firmware from Brother, and got the printer going—2½ years ago.

A few months back, I sent away for a generic drum and two generic toner cartridges. The cartridges were fine, but the drum smeared beyond usability. After hours of trying, I went back to the old drum with a new cartridge. But by now the old drum—the original "alleyway" drum—was barely functioning.

With my previous misfortune regarding the generic drum, plus many warnings in reviews, this time I paid for the Brother-brand drum. I almost always buy generic-everything, so this was an exception.

And it works. Perfectly. It won't fail, either, because I know the equipment very well. The test was really in the drum's first-time use.

So, for a Brother printer drum, I'd say you should pay for the brand name. Otherwise, I buy generic for most things.

Oh—very important; one last detail: I placed my order and then received the drum, in my hand, delivered to the door—in a little bit UNDER ONE DAY! A bit less than 24 hours! Standard ground delivery, too. Very impressive, Newegg and Purolator.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to install and to replace the toner

Cons: Not printing clear... this is the third one I have bought and all three printed bad... at least this last one was not as bad as the first two

Other Thoughts: Not a problem with newegg.com or the products sold be newegg.com... I am thinking this non clear printing is caused by the Brother themselves or something in the printer is not working... but that is just my thought...

5 out of 5 eggsBrother is best bang for buck

Pros: Of all printer brands, Brother clearly gives you the most for the money. I have purchased generic parts for my printers in the past and even though they are cheaper they aren't a better value. NewEgg's prices can't be beat and this drum unit is the best value going.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsWorks wonderfully

Pros: This product made my day. my drum light came on so i took it to have the drum rebuilt. It worked for about a week while it was under warranty so I attempted to have it fixed with no luck It stopped working again. So I decided to buy the drum unit from newegg and it hasn't stopped working since. Thanks newegg for your fast shipping and a valued product.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wished I had bought this earlier before I wasted money on replacing the drum unit.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Drum

Pros: None see below

Cons: I normally don't get excited about the occasional bad item. If the manufacturer treats me fairly I move on. That was not the case here. I got a bad drum (also destoyed the toner cartridge). I call Brother. After 1.5 hours on the phone with India (the accent so bad you could not understand her) and speaking to a supervisor I was told the 7820n entire unit needed to go in for service. I asked why when it was a bad drum. I was told that was their policy. At this point you can imagine my blood presure going through the roof. I told the I tried a different toner/drum in the machine and it worked fine. In actually do have a couple of these printers in our office. They said Ohhhhh, I guess in that case we can have our parts department call you tomorrow. This was 2.5 hours and two calls later.

The next day I didn't get a call back and had to call them again. Of course they won't transfer me to the parts department. I finally got a call back the next day from a very nice gentlman.

Other Thoughts: Went through the story all over again. He said I would have to mail the parts to there verification center at my cost and then they would see if the toner and drum were bad. I said why can't you just send me out the parts after all I was spending a lot more money for the Brother product instead of a 3rd party drum. He said that was their policy.

Had brother stood behind their product and just swapped them out they would have had a customer for life. As it is I will never purchase another Brother product (for myself or my office), I will tell people about my experience and I spend not the money for the oem products. I just purchased a 3rd party drum for 1/2 the price and it works like a charm. I suggest you do the same. Brother will never see more revenue from me, my company or my clients.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter priced !

Pros: Better price than retail.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why the previous person was complaining about price. I'd rather pay this much than in retail.

5 out of 5 eggsJust like the Original

Pros: Replaces the original plastic cartridge tray.
Manufactured by brother
lasts for 12,000 Prints

Cons: Expensive for a pice of plastic..

Other Thoughts: NOT THE INK CARTRIDGE! It is the plastic tray that holds the cartridge in place.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: good toner, good prints

Cons: claims to be MT when it is not, taping 2 small toner windows gives ~1k more prints! Also flag gear reset is a good skill too

Other Thoughts: this is where the money is, the printers are given away

5 out of 5 eggsYES!

Pros: I tried OEM versions and almost bought a new printer - It pays to buy brand name, I wasted a lot on the factory re-do's

Cons: none, other than price, but best price for brand name

Other Thoughts: It made my machine act like new
