5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

Pros: Extremely quiet. So quiet that it's easily confused for being dead on arrival if you didn't know that the fan isn't supposed to turn until it hits a higher wattage and temperature. Modern motherboards and CPUs are so efficient that it may never trip the cooling fan.

Extremely efficient. Because it's a lower wattage 80 Plus PSU, I managed get extremely low wattage numbers for my test systems. Power supplies are only efficient when operating in the 20% to 90% load range. When people buy 600+ watt PSUs and put a load that hovers mostly in the 20W to 30W range which is less than 5% load, the PSU efficiency could easily be in the 50% waste range even though it is an "80 plus gold" PSU. Using a lower wattage PSU guarantees above 80% efficiency.

Cons: It's meant for a 1U server chassis form factor. Would be nice if they made the same PSU in a Micro ATX or Mini ITX form factor.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat low-power PSU

Pros: Efficient, quiet, inexpensive.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased about 20 of these over the last two years and they have never let me down. Not one problem so far. I replace old 200 watt power supplies with these, and usually save 10-40 watts per server.

1 out of 5 eggsStrange PSU

Pros: I'm a tech (fix computers for a living) and I ordered it for one of my customers to be used with a mini-itx MSI mainboard (new one for Newegg too).

It fits a HP Slimline desktop.

Cons: The strange thing was it didn't work with most power outlet at my store and the outlet at my customer's apartment.

So I'm going to RMA it. It's useless.

I have tried out with a standard PSU (yes, a 400W ATX PSU) in all the outlets in my store and my MSI mainboard does work. So it must be this PSU that is failing me and shamed me in front of my cust.

Other Thoughts: Whether it's a defect or all the PSU in this line is the same. If every other unit is the same, then we have a design flaw here (I'm not sure. The manufacturer should investigate.
