An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.
Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)
That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 430 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

Works great for a while
- Pros: Very quiet.
- Cons: Died after 6 months with a loud bang , tripped the circuit breaker and took my precious A8V motherboard along to the afterlife.
- Other Thoughts: Antec makes fantastic cases, but their power supplies are a gamble.
Works Great!
- Pros: A lot of thought goes into these PSU's. Great quality and it had all the hookups I could ever need for my build -> running P35 mobo, E6550 (stock voltage), X1950Pro, two hard drives, one case fan.
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: Only time will tell how reliable this PSU is. My son's Antec has been running strong for a few years now.

Perfect!!!
- Pros: Quiet, more than enough outputs for me... 3 12volt rails fit righht into my usually propietary Dell 4700
- Cons: None
Update: Customer Service?!
- Pros: None.
- Cons: Failed product.
Customer service and technical support do not exist.
- Other Thoughts: This is a follow-up to my last one. Sent notes (online support) twice, never any response. Called the Antec support line, no human to answer the phone, but asked to leave voice message.
Stay away from Antec unless you are lucky and never needs support.
PSU Took Other Parts With It. Bad!
- Pros: A PSU.
- Cons: Dead after some use. Took mainboard, CPU and RAM with it. What else can I say?
- Other Thoughts: I had the older TruePower model. It was driving a low-power P4 system. One day, suddenly I heard a load pop sound and grey smoke came from the case. Scary!
Of course the system is dead. Probably the large capacitor blew. When I got some time to assess the damage, I found the mainboard, CPU and RAM are all bad. The video card is lucky to be ok, as well as the HD.
Contacted the online support twice, never any response of any kind. I'll have to call them when I get a chance.
Not much to say now. I'd say do not buy any more Antec PSUs. Get something more reliable.
