An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 430 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate: Customer Service?!

Pros: None.

Cons: Failed product.

Customer service and technical support do not exist.

Other Thoughts: This is a follow-up to my last one. Sent notes (online support) twice, never any response. Called the Antec support line, no human to answer the phone, but asked to leave voice message.

Stay away from Antec unless you are lucky and never needs support.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU Took Other Parts With It. Bad!

Pros: A PSU.

Cons: Dead after some use. Took mainboard, CPU and RAM with it. What else can I say?

Other Thoughts: I had the older TruePower model. It was driving a low-power P4 system. One day, suddenly I heard a load pop sound and grey smoke came from the case. Scary!

Of course the system is dead. Probably the large capacitor blew. When I got some time to assess the damage, I found the mainboard, CPU and RAM are all bad. The video card is lucky to be ok, as well as the HD.

Contacted the online support twice, never any response of any kind. I'll have to call them when I get a chance.

Not much to say now. I'd say do not buy any more Antec PSUs. Get something more reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Very cheap, I use two and I've had no problems. Four SATA connectors! Seems to be pretty reliable.

Cons: 430W probably isn't enough for a serious gaming rig or some high-end machine like that.

Other Thoughts: If all you need is an ordinary amount of power, but you have a lot of SATA drives--let's say you have a machine that just stores your backups, for example--this is the PS for you.

1 out of 5 eggsNever buy Antec product again

Pros: Was quiet while it worked. Appeared well built.

Cons: Died in 3 months. Popped the circuit breaker when it died. Antec has been completly un-responsive to this issue. Via emails and -phone call.

Good chunk of change down the tubes.
Buy something besides Antec.

Other Thoughts: Always liked Antec in the past, but never again. Very dissappointed in them.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid buy

Pros: Excellent power supply. I've had this baby for over a year, mid to high end gaming and frequent usage and it just keeps on asking for more. Antec is a great power supply company I'd buy from them again in a heartbeat.

Cons: None...

5 out of 5 eggsStill going

Pros: After one year its still going strong, I've overclocked my cpu and ram and no problems so far. I have 3 hdds 2 bruners and xfi soundcard with the intel Pro/1000 GT Nic along with my 8800 gt. My last psu always blew out hot air but this psu hardly even gets warm.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: I love the power supply's ability to control my case fan. It fixed a lot of stability problems I had. System reboots randomly, would not shut down. I was running a stock 350W with two drives, DVD and a decent vid card with 256mb. This thing is so quite I don't hear anything except the drives moving every now and then. I have all the fans connected to it so everything slows down on demand.

Cons: Wires where long, but came with ties so that was not an issue. I wish ANTEC had a 500W version, i would pay a little more for it.

Pros: I have purchased serveral of these for my "cheaper machines." it isn't component, but it does what it is supposed to do, very well.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome PSU

Pros: Stable, efficient, quiet, and cool.

Cons: Long cables. If you are building with a micro-atx case, you will need to find a place to store all the excess cabling.

Other Thoughts: Overall an awesome power supply from a great company.
