5 out of 5 eggsnice PSU

Pros: Quiet, cool, efficient, stable output power, robust: SCP and OCP proven to work.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: We've been seriously giving this PSU a kick in the tires and would highly recommend it to anybody that can fit it in their PC case.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Very quite and power efficient.
I can no longer hear any noise from the power supply. The FSP PS is about 10% to 15% more efficient than my old Power Man IP-P300DF1-0 PS.

Cons: The 2 SATA power connectors are too close to each other. Fortunately, I happened to have a SATA cable adaptor to handle the two SATA devices.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg send me the PS with just a bubble wrap. This is definitely an OEM version (rather than a retail version). For me, I don't mind saving a few bucks if they don't need to waste money on the packaging.

2 out of 5 eggsHorribly short power connections

Pros: I have no idea. Unable to even hook it up to see if it works.

Cons: Why the hell are these cables so short? The 4-pin CPU power connector won't reach the power connection on the motherboard in most cases. Somehow, the CPU power connector, which is usually one of the longest cables on a PSU because the CPU power connection is usually the farthest connection from the power supply. Not on this PSU. On this PSU, it is THE SHORTEST. Keep in mind this is in a standard mini-ITX case. There's < an inch of space between this PSU and my motherboard and the cable still doesn't reach. If they were any closer they'd be physically touching.

And it doesn't stop there. The only two SATA power connectors the PSU has are on the same line, with only 3 inches of slack between them. This is dumb. What if you have two SATA devices (an optical drive and hard drive, perhaps?) whose power ports are more than 3 inches away from one another? You're fuxx0red, that's what.

Make SURE you have molex-to-SATA power adapters. And an exceedingly tiny mini-ITX motherboard and case.

Other Thoughts: I've been shopping on Newegg.com for over 7 years and this is easily one of the most disappointing purchases I've made. I literally cannot use this PSU for anything because of these simple, short-sighted design flaws.

I was going to grab a Seasonic PSU at first, and I'm kicking myself now because I thought I'd save $10 and grab this comparable unit that had 4 eggs. I'd love to see the cases this PSU is supposed to go in, they'd have to be the size of toasters for this to be of any use.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fits perfectly in a Foxconn RM233 case

Cons: The ATX 24-pin connector is not 20+4pin. The 4 pins do not break off.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty great for the price

Pros: *Fits the Biostar BD61 bare bones as direct replacement.
*Supports a stout low pro video card (Sparkle Calibre 2GB GT 520) for HTPC.
*Very reasonable price.
*Great amount of hookups for the money.

Cons: *The SATA power line is really short. The BD61 is a small barebones case and the SATA power line is still short enough to require an extension. Buyer beware.
*Have felt stouter TFX P/S's before.
*Fan was quiet enough that I didn't think it was working upon first boot (some may consider this a pro, but I find it usually means weak and soon to be replaced fan).

Other Thoughts: For the money it is really hard to beat this P/S if you need a stouter P/S to push discrete graphics on your HTPC build.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit in Dell Studio Slim

Pros: N/A

Cons: The ATX cable is too short to reach the slot on the motherboard inside the Dell Studio Slim case. The two SATA power connectors are too close together and won't work with the Dell, since the DVD drive is much further apart from the HD.

Other Thoughts: Need an adapter if you are trying to power any PCI-e 2.0 16x graphics card that needs additional power.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your input. This model is designed for standard mini ITX case used. Therefore, may not fit perfectly with Dell special design case. Please kindly double check the output connectors information before purchase. We appreciate your input and will take your recommendation into account when we design new product in the future. Please feel free to contact with us at FSP Group USA Support Center, we will do our best to enhance your shopping experience.

5 out of 5 eggsIt "fits"

Pros: Got this in an APEX DM-317-A. None oem, the holes don't line up at all, but with some tin snips and a c-clamp, anything is possible.

Cons: Not free.

Other Thoughts: Runs great sounds better then the oem for that case. All the connections you would need for a HTPC.
