3 out of 5 eggsright product?

Pros: Not sure...

Cons: I'm not all that sure the power supply I got was even the right product. It has the right stickers on it but they are very badly placed and it doesn't look like what is pictured. It has a silver rather than black case for starters but I hardly care about that. There were extra holes in the case for switches this thing doesn't have and its connections are quite different from what the guy bellow reported. Not sure if this is someone doing a switcher or if it some monkey hack by the manufacturer. Either way it is on its way back to Newegg.

Other Thoughts: Newegg, to their credit, toke this back without issue and paid for return shipping.

1 out of 5 eggsINTERMITTENTLY FATAL

Pros: worked for about 10 minutes

Cons: Fried 2 $300+ server mobo's yet tested good. Intermittent error of some kind. Has cost me an unknown amount of repair $$$, the first board may or may not be covered my the manufacturers warranty, the second board should be replaced by the 30 day newegg replacement policy. Has also caused my company down time, not to mention the extra labor. I can say I will not trust this brand again.

Other Thoughts: The first board fried. I tested the p/s and all the legs tested good. Thought it was a fluke since I had added a second cpu and memory at the same time. I ordered 2 more boards as I am building several redundant servers anyway. the second board was having issues reading the HD then fried after the 10th attempt. I got a different p/s locally and installed it and the 3rd mobo now all is good. I would give this zero eggs if I could.

5 out of 5 eggsSo glad...

Pros: All the power I will need for now and into the future.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Seems many review are from people who enjoy top[ end games. I don't play any games but I run heavy on the macros for spread sheets, etc. I wanted power to run everything I need to do these masive spread sheets and databases.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Surprise So Far

Pros: So far, a very nice surprise in a high wattage PSU from an unfamiliar company. I searched a long time to find a PSU with a high amperage rating on the 12V rail for my SLI system. This PSU allows you to bridge or unbridge the 12V rails into a 1 or 2 rail system. IMHO, the noise is unobjectionable. You can push a button to set the fans to high or low speed - at high speed, a blue LED lights up. Even at high speed I can barely hear the fan. I needed a high wattage PSU that would fit the dimensions of my Lian-Li PC777b case, which mounts the PSU at the bottom, and this was the best option I could find. The other leading 850 Watt PSU didn't fit my case. The leads are long enough to actually reach everything I needed without extensions, and there is a plethora of Molex, SATA, and fan connections. The unit is very heavy, which indicates good heat sinks to me, and the finish is attractive. ESP12V compliant - has 8 pin and 24 pin MB power hookups.

Cons: Very expensive, but you get what you pay for. There is NOT an extra power outlet on the back of the unit - must have been changed as a later design revision - but that's no big deal for me at all. The Athena name is unfamiliar to me.

Other Thoughts: I called Athena to inquire about the size of the unit to make sure it would fit my case. They actually took my name and number, researched the question, and called me back! Pretty good customer service so far!

5 out of 5 eggsBridged Rails -- Gun Metal

Pros: Powerful and feature filled. The Dual 12v rails can be bridged for a tremendous 48 amps. Perfect for EPS dual cpu servers. They can be unbridged for SLI. The fan speed even controls several "fan only" outputs thus controling case/cpu or video fans with a switch on the PSU!!!

My antec phantom (not silent or fanless) circulates the heat while this psu removes it from the case.

Gun Metal finish is beautiful!

Cons: I have to keep wiping the fingerprints from the beautiful finish :o(

They give you every option (like shielded SLI power and half a dozen sata) so I had to cut the not-removable non-modular cabling as there was no room in my case to hide it all.

Other Thoughts: Great supply -- I wish I could afford one of these for my own system.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked, but did not trust this unit

Pros: Did power everything I have and overclocks were as stable as with my OCZ 520 W, at first.

Cons: Way too loud. The 35 dB (A) rating is a straight lie. I don't believe that this is a high-quality source of 850 Watts. Very small and light, see below.

Other Thoughts: I returned this unit. I bought it to power a Supermicro H8QC8 and before putting in into that machine I tested it with socket 939 boards. I have seen severe instability and components out of order. While I cannot rule out that it was not the PSU's fault, in combination with the overall cheap "feel" I decided not to risk the H8QC8 by using this PSU and returned the PSU. Plus I don't like the lie about "silent".
