5 out of 5 eggsSolid unit, noted drawbacks

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM PRO 1200W (AU-1200PRO) ATX12V2.92 SLI Certified 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Single 12V Rail CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply 4th Gen CPU Haswell Ready

Pros: I'm not using anywhere near the potential of this unit presently. I bought it because it would power two AMD cards in CrossFire+OCing on rest of system, and the price was right at the time vs. e.g. eVGA SuperNova. I sort of liked the way the built-in ATXes worked but I could see how others don't like how they fold. The modulars are fairly big, very sturdy and lots of room for daisy chaining (but they are bulky to fold up and run as a result). The unit itself is nice and heavy, was a bit tight to get in due to the way my case was built, but it worked fine. The external power cord is a beast to get in to the unit as compared to any other PSU I've used; you could call that a pro or a con. Overall I won't be worrying about this part of my system, although if I had gone NVIDIA I might have gone with a less capable PSU just due to the unavoidable weight associated with quality PSU of this sizing.

Cons: FSP rebate postmarking really too aggressive (20 days??). Would have wished for more fan connectors, had to get an aftermarket fan connector after filling up all the included on PSU and mobo.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend.
If priced comparably to other high-end using including AURUM PT, would go with others based on Internet technical reviews, but for me this was a good bang for buck purchase. High quality + all the safety protections which is what I really cared about.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted longer, but lack of service

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM PRO 1200W (AU-1200PRO) ATX12V2.92 SLI Certified 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Single 12V Rail CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply 4th Gen CPU Haswell Ready

Pros: This PSU performed great for a while. It was a better replacement from the previous one I purchased. Nice, quiet and performed the way it needed too....

Cons: A couple of days ago, didn't draw any power at all for my desktop until today. Sorely disappointed not only in its random performance issues, but lack of quality of service from the brand of this PSU. A year ago, I was able to get in touch with a rep before. Now, all I get is a answer machine. Definitely will need to check out other brands of PSUs.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent for a while

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM PRO 1200W (AU-1200PRO) ATX12V2.92 SLI Certified 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Single 12V Rail CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply 4th Gen CPU Haswell Ready

Pros: This PSU is a champ! Definitely was a better replacement for the previous one I purchased. Nice and quiet and performs the way it needs too.

Cons: Only had it for 3 months and in my area recently experience some thunderstorms. Power surges attacked it several times and now gives my PC a hard time powering on. Used my PSU tester on it and sometimes it shows RED and sometimes it shows BLUE. Possibly could be failing so I will look into replacing it to be on the safe side.
