5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Get What You Pay For!

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM 92+ Series PT-450M 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This piece of hardware is some of the most well crafted I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The fully modular design allows for good cable management as well as fitting this in any small ITX build without having to worry about to many cords limiting space. I tested all of the rails and the fact that over 24 hours there was no more than a .1v fluctuation which is well within the acceptable limits, as well as the power consumption over that time period under a 250w load and man is this thing efficient. Very Minimal Heat loss ration. This thing ran at full load at 42°C, thats low! Also running under normal conditions this thing is whisper quiet, I mean i literally do not hear it. I strongly recommend this PSU to anyone who needs a good PSU from a trusted brand.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The exterior is like a truck bed lining. That's not something I am complaining about either

5 out of 5 eggsNo complaints

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM 92+ Series PT-450M 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet and trouble free for about 2 years now. Replaced an Antec earthwatts 380 that was quiet and trouble free because, being Platinum, I felt it would give better voltage control and just generally be of higher quality. Chose it because of very high rating given by 1st commentator, and a thumbs up review on Hardware Secrets. If you call their Chino CA office with a technical question, you will get a real person!

Cons: Some of the modular cables are flattened like standard SATA cables, and cannot be bent in 3 dimensions. In a more modern case with cabling space behind the motherboard "floor", this might be an advantage, but in my Antec 300, it would be easier if they were the standard cloth covered type.

Other Thoughts: With APU's looking like the wave of the future, I hope to see Platinum supplies of lower power becoming available.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM 92+ Series PT-450M 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Good packaging.
Looks good and feels quality. Is covered with some kind of plastic film, very pleasant on touch.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Is described by newegg as "modular" but it is "semi-modular".

Some reviwers say it is loud(er) than X. On the package, there is a diagram which shows noise-load dependency. Remember, that under heavy load PSU has to work harder and fan spins faster, which increase noice. Dont chose PSU with load rate close to your computer load. And if complain about noise, do not forget to state what your computer power level is.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM 92+ Series PT-450M 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: uses identical modular cabling pinout as Enermax, which I didn't know prior to purchasing but has made my life much easier and Fortron Source another preferred brand for our customers, by my business and myself (Enermax, FSP are 2 of the 5 largest PSU manufacturers in the world; Fotron has only recently begun selling under its own brandname)
the physical 'snaps' that mechanically secure the modular cabling directly to the PSU are different but functional "both ways" (Enermax cables on Fortron unit and vice versa)

cost-and-energy-efficient

VERY well-packaged!!

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsRuns my server

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM 92+ Series PT-450M 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I bought this to run my ESXi server. Because the server will run 24x7 for years on end it was worth the extra expense for the platinum certification. So far so good on the power supply. Being that it's for a server the running noise isn't an issue, but it is very quiet. Running on the work bench the hard drive was making more noise that the power supply.

Cons: The modular design is nice, but my server case still uses molex fans. The modular plugs are all sata or all molex. It would be nice to have a mix. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the product is unusable, this is a 1. Not a big issue at all.

Other Thoughts: In its 7 year life, the last server went through 2 cheap power supplies until I popped for a higher quality unit. I hope spending the extra upfront saves the headache and hassle of dying power supplies.

5 out of 5 eggsSets New Standard in HTPC Fidelity

This review is from: FSP Group AURUM 92+ Series PT-450M 450W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I've used many power supplies including low grade, Antec Bronze and Seasonic Gold. Tested in combination with Asus P8Z77 motherboards and low power 7750 video cards.
In my high-end nine channel system the sound quality improves greatly across the spectrum with unheard new levels of articulation in soundstaging, dynamics, air and atomosphere.
The picture quality also has a better purity, richness and luxuriousness.

The greatest $100 "bang-for-the-buck" I've even witnessed in my 30 years of home theater upgrading experience.

Why? There are solid engineering reasons:
The first power supply that do NOT generate EMI/FRI Interference into your home theater system. One reason is power transistor use no current at zero switch transition.
Another is "Active-Clamp Topology to a whole new level".
Optimized the 3.3V/5V/12V start-up setting, with Zero Cross Switching and Power Factor Correction PFC benefits, it avoids the switching loss and strengthen the efficiency significantly.

Cons: Fan is slightly noisier than Seasonic Gold

Other Thoughts: The higher the power supply efficiency the better the sound quality. I will sample Titanium level supplies - whenever they become available!

The first integrated FSP MIA (Multiple Intelligence Ability) IC that provides the best performance & highest protection.

Two samples work perfectly.
