5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: We used two of these power supplies in our file server PCs at my work at I was very impressed. Both with attached to MSI gaming motherboards, which have impressive power handling by themselves, but I've seen worse performance with those boards and cheaper power supplies. This Aurum one, on the other hand, did not fluctuate in voltage even by 0.01V the entire time I monitored it. I've never a power supply maintain voltave that perfectly.

The other big perk is that this power supply doesn't simply overvolt at like 12.6V so that under several hundred watt loads, it can maintain 12.0V. It just plain sits at 12V regardless. That makes this power supply perfect for overclocking. We only used it because of its many certifications, long useable life rating, efficiency level, and resistance to surges though.

Cons: The paint style and overall finish may not match every case and build style. It's like a texturized semi-dark black that feels like pickup truck bed liner material.

Other Thoughts: 400W may not sound like much but it will run most CPU and high end graphics card combinations with power to spare if you actually do the math.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very quiet & efficient as advetised. Cable lengths & connector locations designed well.

Cons: One sata connector was a real hassle. Took an old disk off the shelf and used lots of force and motion to force the connection. After repeating a few times it loosened up, and I was able to connect it to the drive in te case.

5 out of 5 eggsCool and efficient PSU

Pros: Runs silently at routine tasks, cool, energy efficient, works with Intel 4th generation low power states

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a smart and efficient PSU. While surfing the web and watching videos, its fan turns slowly and silently, moving a barely-perceptible amount of air flow. It only ramps up its speed when I play more demanding games. I enabled the power-saving C-states on my motherboard and the PSU handles it like a charm. Hopefully, highly efficient power supplies in the 300 to 400W range like this one will become more common in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsWow. This is a great PSU!

Pros: Aside from the obvious as shown in the specs (gold rating, an inordinate number of power connections for sata drives, etc), I am really struck with two things about this supply:

1) It is quiet. I don't mean "not very noisy", I mean QUIET. I actually began swearing up and down when I turned the supply on (paperclip test) to test the tolerances, as it was LITERALLY SILENT, I had no idea it was on, and actually thought it was busted! Is it low air flow? No, it's like a tornado coming out of the side of the PSU from the fan. So I have no idea how they pulled off this much cooling air flow with literally *ZERO* sound. Not a peep. I can even put my ear next to the fan, and hardly hear a thing.

2) I tested every rail in this supply on load, and off load. I have never seen something this tight. This seems really well designed. Doesn't even budge. My rails were +3.36, +5.07, and +12.15 (and -11.68 on the -12V) on the +3.3, +5, and +12 (and -12) volt rails, respectively. Basically, that means instead of being up to 5 or 10% out of whack (which is about what you'd expect when you buy a PSU these days---even from Corsair), these guys are pretty much within 1% tolerance. Of course, it doesn't really matter to have exact voltages, but the fact that there are shows me that they weren't messing around in the QC.

I really feel like I have a power supply that's well designed with good parts, and QC'd by someone that knew what they were doing. I hope that's true, and not an illusion.

Modders, if you care, things were nicely sleeved. Looks good.

Came with some velcro straps, and (I have NFC why) four thumbscrews like you'd see on a computer case. What are these for? Definitely above average in the "accessories they give you" category.

It's pleasing, overall. And it's efficient, and silent.

Cons: Viciously non-modular, and due to the generosity of the connections given the modest output wattage, you're definitely going to have some extra cables here you're going to want to do something with.

Motherboard main power connector is 24 pin straight. Not 20+4. (At least, if it were 20+4, I didn't see immediately how to split it off.) Won't matter for 98% of the people though, since I have yet to see a mobo that wasn't 24 pin these days.

Other Thoughts: I'm using mine in a file server (FreeNAS, paired this PSU with the beautiful Bitfenix Phenom M case). I needed something reliable, efficient, and with a lot of SATA power connectors, and preferably of a low wattage. This looked good, and it was even better than I expected. Currently running a SuperMicro X10-SLM+-F server board with Intel G3220, and four 3.5" HDD's at 24/7, and this PSU isn't even remotely breaking a sweat. I can almost hear it laughing at me for how much more it's ready to deliver than what I'm asking.
