5 out of 5 eggsMost reliable power supply one can buy

Pros: Reliable, reliable, reliable
Has what you need for an average computer
We are a computer shop and have built over 50 computers with this power supply over the last two years and not one has failed. It just doesn't get better than that.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Not all of the features of a high end power supply, but for an average build, there is not a better power supply you could buy.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for shopping with FSP. We will continually improve our products. Your satisfication is always our achievement.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 5 year 9 months later, it's still quietly running under my desk here. It's probably lived an easy life at less than 175 watts peak.

Cons: I guess it's not like the new 80%+ high efficiency pfc psu designs we have available now.

Other Thoughts: I was digging around for the specs, and noticed this thing is still for sale on newegg! Might as well add another long term blurb.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This PSU is an absolute champ. It's been running without issue in a computer I built for a family member for over five years, and as far as I can tell it's got plenty of life left in it. I recently rebuilt that computer, and opted to reuse the FSP PSU when I realized the new one I picked up was a featherweight in comparison.

Cons: I had a heck of a time removing the PSU cable from a floppy drive for some reason, but that may have been the floppy drive's problem.

Other Thoughts: It's not high on wattage, but it's more than adequate for an average PC. For the price, this is a fantastic buy, though I don't know if the build quality has changed since May 2006.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet

Pros: Quiet! Only think I hear out of that computer is the CPU fan. Handles an Athlon x2 5000+ (Brisbane 65W) with a Radeon HD3450 with no problem at all. Haven't stressed it really.

Cons: No PFC, 80plus cert, but whatever.

Other Thoughts: Got this secondhand off an uncle, saw it on here and decided to give it a review. Makes an excellent HTPC PSU, as it literally is inaudible unless you stick your ear against the rear grill.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going...

Pros: Bought this 1/6/2008 and its still going in the computer I built for someone...despite never being cleaned and being in a very dusty/dirty environment and nearly 24x7 use.

Cons: A little light on the wattage, but works fine for the system its in.

3 out of 5 eggsNot totally "i7 compatible"

Pros: For the price, surprisingly quiet. Tons of Molex connectors. Seems a great power supply as a replacement on a legacy machine.

Cons: Although Newegg has it listed as "i7 compatible", it does NOT include the 8 pin EATX12V plug -- ONLY the 4-pin. And if you're spending the money for an i7, do you really want it operating that way?? Plus, a total of two SATA connectors.

Other Thoughts: This thing looks like it was designed about five years ago, when SATA drives were rare(ish) and Pentiums required a 4-pin connector. Not, in any way, the power supply for an i7 (or any other i series, for that matter) build, IMO.

1 out of 5 eggsPower Supply DOA

Pros: N/A

Cons: The Power supply was dead on arrival. Attempting to get the UPS mailing slip to exchange it for a new one.

3 out of 5 eggsOk, nothing special...

Pros: It worked out of the box. 120mm fan is pretty quiet. PCI-E connector. It's a lot higher quality than generic garbage.

Cons: It's actually a 350W unit. Wire guage is pretty wimpy. It started squealing in less than a year. It says dual rail 12v but I highly doubt it's actually got split over current protection as a true dual rail does. Could probably do better for the price.

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad unit, but it's not really impressive either. I bought it since I recognized the name, since I had an awesome old Fortron Source 400W back in the AMD slot A days that weighed easily twice what this thing weighs. I figured it would be at least decent quality for the money, but I feel like you could do better. The fact that it started squealing in ~8 months powering a quite tame Athlon X2 email/office system kind of sealed the deal that it's a bit on the junk end of the spectrum for the $$. I'm going to RMA it through FSP just for the heck of it and keep it for an emergency spare. I wouldn't buy one again, though. It's kind of light and the internals look kind of wimpy, even though it's only a 350W.
