3 out of 5 eggsonly came with 2 cables of 4 ='(

Pros: Good Deal, but detracted 2 eggs due to missing 2 of 4 cables

Cons: Missing 2 of the 4 cables necessary to connect 4 PC's to this. Finally opened the box today to install for a project and ='( only 2 cables.

Other Thoughts: Hoping D-link will come through for me and send the 2 missing cables. First time ever having an issue with their product. Hoping their support is as good as their name

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad, not great

Pros: The keyboard switching is the best feature on these d-link units allowing you to stash the switch and cables away and forget about buttons. Does anyoe else do that? This unit DOES support advanced keyboard functions on wired keyboards.

Cons: If you have advanced video cards and monitors, this unit will not recognize higher resolutions (I.e. 1920x1080) you have to disconnect the unit and boot so the computer talks directly to the monitor, then reconnect. The device does not work with wireless keyboards and mice. P/S 2 mice are hard to come by these days, so I have one wired P/S 2 keyboard and two mice on my desk.

Other Thoughts: I have two newer computers and a really nice Bluetooth USB keyboard/mouse cambination that I can't use with this set-up. Looking for an updated USB version but from what Im reading, d-links unit doesn't work.

5 out of 5 eggsKVM that Works

Pros: Worked well when I used it.

Cons: Sometimes there is shadow effect on the screen, I don't know if its cables or the KVM switch it self. Hardly noticeable do.

3 out of 5 eggsMouse not reliable at all

Pros: Easy to use; nice design

Cons: The mouse does not work all the time. I thought it was because I had a USB/ps2 adapter; but even with the pure ps2 mouse it still is very iffy. It worked fine for the first few months; but now I have to use a seperate mouse which defeats the whole purpose of the switch.

5 out of 5 eggssweet as pie

Pros: It set up and worked just the way it was designed to do. This KVM was intented for my mother-in-law who does not know very much about computers and she was able to use it like she was a pro.

Cons: It only comes with two sets of cables but it is a four port switch. What is up with that?

1 out of 5 eggsAwfull

Pros: The only pro I can think of is the ease of switching between machines. That's pretty much it.

Cons: Everything else. Video quality is terrible. Even though I said, switching is easy, it's not reliable, sometimes you have to hit the switch button multiple times, before it realizes what you are trying to do (same goes for hot keys). The major problem is, however, the mouse stops working. If the mouse sits idle for more than a couple seconds it stops working and the only way to get it back is to cycle thru all the computers. Another issue is when I bring up one of the Unix or Linux machines when it first boots up the mouse goes absolutely insane and starts moving all over the screen on its own clicking on things and opening stuff, deleting things. Just a terrible product.

Other Thoughts: I contacted D-Link about this and they were glad to replace it as long as I send it to them first and then 4-6 weeks I would get a new one. Yeah, great idea for a person running 3 machines. When I told them that, they basically said "tough".

4 out of 5 eggsgood but...

Pros: Reliable hot-key switching allows the KVM to be hidden out of sight. Works well on windows, linux and solaris.

Cons: VGA quality is lousy but this may be true of all KVMs of this type and in this price range. For systems running at high screen resolutions this KVM is simply not an option.

Other Thoughts: Layout of jacks and indicator lights is a bit illogical - placement and use would be facilitated if all PC connections were on the same side with indicator LEDs facing the user on the opposite side.

4 out of 5 eggsMoney In the Bank

Pros: For a small low priced KVM, D-Link DKVM is money in the bank. It allows nice switching between computers as far as picture quality. If your looking for a KVM and you don't really feel like cutting up the credit card afterward then this is what your looking for. It really doesn't get that hot but it does get warm as far as heat goes.

Cons: Hate the fact that the ports are not on the same side. This prevents a problem because since this product looks great I like to stick it on my desk for easy access. In my line of work that presents a problem due to all the wires and movement of people. Only 2 sets of VGA/PS-2 cables what are you nuts. If I buy a product then I want all the cables needed. Its a Four + Main port KVM give me all the darn cables.

Other Thoughts: Even though it may not seem to be such a good product but it really is. It has help in may different areas of my life including home/business use. If I really didn't like this product I wouldn't own two. Buy it and enjoy because trust me in the long run it really is "Money in the Bank".

5 out of 5 eggsgreat, a must buy

Pros: Absoultly great, use both that i bought constantly daily and they only get a break at night. i would recommend these to anyone who has the need for a kvm. People that use big monitors, why, your getting the same picture no matter the size of the screen, i still use a 19" crt flat screen. works like a charm.

Cons: absolutely none

Other Thoughts: just ask, i usually have 6 computers hooked up almost daily since i work for a fairly big company that has a need for IT's.
