4 out of 5 eggsNo Cables included

Pros: Trendnet KVMs always work well. Had very few problems over the years. I like that it's rackmountable. Should provide more stability than the ones that lay on top of a shelf.

Cons: Doesn't include cables

Other Thoughts: I'm not too upset about this. Being a Rackmount KVM you may not be able to use the standard length cables that come with most KVMs. I missed it on the description and now it is a delaying a Rack setup, but again it's my fault. Make sure you measure for cables to order before you order the KVM.

1 out of 5 eggsNO CABLES INCLUDED: Why not state this?

Pros: (none yet)

Cons: It has NO cables. Most switchboxes come with cables for at least 2 computers as they know you'll need some but this has 0 cables. The description should state "You'll need to buy cables separately" or "cables not included".

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: This product is really easy to use and easy to setup. We are using it in a small business server mount to switch between main server, file server, and the security system. It quickly changes and has good response with the keyboard and mouse.

Cons: None that I have noticed so far

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: This has been working great so far after a few weeks, I have not had a single problem with it at all. I set all of the computers to never sleep or turn off the monitor. When I just turn the monitor off physically when I am done using it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have never had a KVM that has hot-keys before, they are really cool. For this KVM user ScrollLK+ScrollLK+(number 1-4).

4 out of 5 eggsHybernate/standby does not work

Pros: This is a fantastic price for a rack-mount KVM and it works great for the server and workstations I have connected to it. (I use it to fix workstations that need work on them.)

Cons: If the user has the workstation set to hybernate or standby and I walk away from it for too long, then the keyboard, video, and mouse no longer work. The only resolution is to reboot the workstation, which is annoying. As a workaround, turn off the standby feature when I first hook it up.

Other Thoughts: For the price it is well worth the money, especially since it is rack-mounted. I would have given it a rating of 5 if it weren't for the one con I found.

3 out of 5 eggsLaggy

Pros: Good for basic office work and maybe home but forget gaming

Cons: Lags like hell when gaming, keystrokes get sticked at times and at others doesn't repond.

Other Thoughts: USB is the way to go for gaming, and DVI for the video forget VGA.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat KVM switch for the money

Pros: Rack mountable, nice button and plug layout, clean look, audio confirmation when switching channels, good respose time when switching channels, sturdy metal case, great price.

Cons: Key repeat is a bit slower than I would like, but this is only evident in word processing apps when you hold the "delete" key down. I also notice some mouse lag/sensitivity but that can be adjusted for the most part in the Windows control panel. VERY seldom the switch will get stuck on a channel when I am switching out computers (just unplug the cables from the computer, change channels and plug them back in.) I believe this is common with switches in this range. Can't complain for a $60 KVM switch.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy junk cables. I bought these and they work great, for a great price too:

4 out of 5 eggsDoesn't need a power supply

Pros: Inexpensive, doesn't have the Belkin mouse problem on Linux.

Cons: Keyboard may drop characters on Windows XP. No problem with Linux. Tried different keyboards. Key repeat may be slow on both Linux and Windows (2000, XP and 2003). Slower than I am used to, but still not too bad.

Other Thoughts: This device is powered by the keyboard interfaces of the host computers. It does not require a power supply. Only the 8-port and higher include power supplies. I have an 8-port Trendnet KVM switch also.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Never got to use it.

Cons: Arrived without the power supply that should have been included.

Other Thoughts: You have to buy all connecting cables which make an expensive proposition.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor video quality

Pros: Very nice construction and layout...was exactly the layout i wanted....all connections on rear.

Cons: Once connected, my video quality became jumpy, and my keyboard only worked some of the time

Other Thoughts: I tried many cable combinations to try to eliminate the switch asmy problem.....but after all that...the switch was the problem.
