1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I had been looking for a 4-port K V M switch and discovered this one here, and the feedback here helped me greatly to find out that it is NOT what I am looking for. I don't want a complete 4 port wireless set up, which is a good thing that the comment found here said that the mouse & keyboard are wired. What I'm looking for is to have the OPTION of a wireless keyboard and mouse since someone gave me an expensive wireless mouse & keyboard still new in the box.

Cons: Specifications listed for details about the unit are great, however, when G o o g ling for a wireless 4-port K V M switch for wireless keyboard & mouse, I get hits for this unit ... and no where in the specs does it indicate that keyboard and mouse are wired/cabled only.

Other Thoughts: I like the various option of the unit like with the audio, but think it would be nice if mention of tip adapters for various items like speakers (and power adapter as was mentioned in a feedback) as optional items to purchase alongside the unit. I had called F r y s Electronics today and was about to buy this K V M switch via information given to me over the phone until I read more of the feedback posts on here. Thanks a huge amount for saving me the time and hair-pulling via this feedback on this site. It is wonderful!! Oh, and I doubt seriously now that I will find a K V M switch that has the dual option of wire & wireless keyboard and mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works out of the box with no power cord needed. This device fits a 19" rack with no issues at all. All the cords come with it so the end price is very good compared to other units after bundling them together.

Cons: Nothing since the previous reports of this not fitting a into a rack without being drilled turned out to be wrong or they changed the packaging since those people got theirs.

Other Thoughts: There should be a combo deal with this and a rackmount keyboard.

2 out of 5 eggsFun yet esoteric

Pros: works p&p fast and easy. Worked 100% fine on old single boot comp

Cons: Contrary to other reviews, the sound is not "great" it is bearable, but has a nice buzzing noise added. KVM would not give video for my dual OS booting computer. No power adapter confirmed.

Other Thoughts: Download synergy if you just want keyboard/mouse on multiple computers

4 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: does what it's supposed to

Cons: alsmost 100 bucks and NO POWER ADAPTER.... WHAT THE FACK......

had to get mine from somewhere else.

it's my fault for not reading carefully.

Other Thoughts: this kvm supports usb-ps/2 adapter... just make sure you have power adapter....have not tested it without the power adapter.
have not tested the sound and hot keys....
don't need them .......

5 out of 5 eggsthe best

Pros: Checked the boot-while-not-active behavior. Started to boot system 3, hot-keyed to system 4, waited until sys3 completed boot. Hot-keyed to sys3 without a problem.

Cons: being able to buy a different brand/model KVM

Other Thoughts: Audio switching: manual is very confusing, but you can select (via hot-key) whether audio follows from system being viewed/controlled or not. E.g., sys1 is your main system and you're building systems 2 and 3. You can be listening to audio from system 1 and switch to view/control sys2 or sys3 without losing your music. And you can link audio back to monitored system with another hot key. And you can switch only the audio while viewing/controlling same system. Brilliant. Can't believe this industrial-quality completely capable device is less than $100.

You will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat KVM - just buy it

Pros: Comes with cables for 4 PCs, so cost is very low for total package. Switches audio well - no hum at all. Super-easy hot key use (scroll-lock twice single key cmd), lots of functions, including turning beep acknowledgement on/off.

Cons: Case is bigger than my last KVM because cables all plug into this one instead of cables coming directly out of case.

Other Thoughts: Direct access to any system via front-panel switches. Utilitarian appearence, very rugged case. Power supply not necessary.

Solved nasty problem with my last KVM: mouse scroll wheel worked through KVM on some systems, but not my primary desktop. Scroll worked on my desktop w/o KVM. This KVM scroll wheel works on all systems I've tried so far.

I compared lots of KVMs on newegg's site; nothing had audio switching, cables all out one side of case (essential to me), and cost <$100 with all cables.

Having to modify rack ears makes this product rate 1 egg? How about it works great, lots of function, for the least money?

2 out of 5 eggsPoor performance

Pros: Includes 4 - 1 meter cables. Is rack ready. Easy switching between computers. Ability to independently switch between computers and audio.

Cons: Poor mouse performance, very sluggish. Does not work with PS/2 to USB adapters that are known to work with other KVM switches.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

The KVM switch was designed for PS/2 keyboard and mouse, therefore USB keyboard and mouse are not supported.

Make sure that you are using a wired mouse. Wireless mice are not supported. If you have not done so already, please try using another mouse to see if you have the same issues.

Thank you,
Tom

1 out of 5 eggsNot happy

Pros: it switches 4 computers and comes with cables.

Cons: The rack mount brackets are to big! I figured that other guy was a fluke. I called to see if I could get new ones because I would rather not hack up the included ones. They said it was impossible that they where to long. They gave me another number to call, which didn't work. Called tech support again, they said I have the right customer support number, so just try it again later. Whatever.

Other Thoughts: I'm probably stuck with this since I don't have the box anymore, we'll see.

4 out of 5 eggsTrendnet KVM

Pros: I have used the Trendnet KVMs before thats why I bought this one. This one ALSO has sound so I can listen in on the network boxes in my stack (4 computers). The product works VERY well!

Cons: The rack mount brackets are too long! This unit is about a inch wider than my old Trentnet KVM. However, they supply you with the exact same brackets. Because the unit is wider, the bracket mounting holes dont match up to the Rack mounting holes. I had to take the brackets of the KVM, redrill them and remount them on the KVM to get the KVM to mount in the rack!

Other Thoughts: Great unit, work well.... watch out if you are mounting in a rack!
