Pros: Easy to use and install. Works perfectly

Cons: The cables are not so long. Before buy this product, make sure that your 2 computers are not too far from each others...

1 out of 5 eggsworked once

Pros: Worked one time

Cons: My server powerd down and then the switch never worked again

Other Thoughts: Get something else, I went back to a 15 year old Bytec switch and it works ten times better and also only has ps2!

5 out of 5 eggsBELKIN F1DK102P 2-Port Compact KVM Switch

Pros: 6 foot cable length

Cons: None if used properly

Other Thoughts: I've had this KVM for years and it's always performed flawlessly with PS/2 keyboard and mouse. It's been connected to literally dozens of different desktop PCs and laptops without any issues. I've used CRT monitors, LCD monitors, and even added a PS/2 to USB 'dongle' for the keyboard/mouse to hook it up to newer computers without any issues. Not sure what other reviewers are whining about here...

Sadly this won't support my new wireless mouse/keyboard combo (and why shoud it, it's at least 6 year old technology).

1 out of 5 eggsthe most frustrating experience with a computer component ever

Pros: none

Cons: this thing never really worked well. If you manage to plug it in and get it working, make sure you don't turn off your computers EVER. Otherwise, the switch will get stuck in some sort of crazy mode where only the picture can be switched but mouse and/or keyboard won't. This doesn't happen every time, but continued to increase in frequency until a few weeks ago, it stopped switching all together.

Other Thoughts: To have a switch that stops working just when you need to use both computers the most (like when rebuilding one system and are using the other to download drivers for instance), is terrible; to have a switch that seems to be programmed to make your life a living misery every time you try to use it is enough to make me never want to buy anything from Belkin again. Whoever designed this thing didn't think anything through.
For instance, when I turn on a computer, the switch keeps switching back to the other computer FOUR TIMES during boot up. So I turn off the ther computer, thinking that should stop it from switching; alas, the belkin switch still switches to a computer that is powered off, and stubbornly won't let me stay on the first computer. Then once the system is finally up, the keyboard doesn't work. Or the mouse. Or both. Or on rare occaseions, they may both work. Resetting the switch by unplugging everything helped a few times, but not any more. This thing is garbage.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's a KVM switch... and thats about it

Cons: I can't get the switch to work at all....

Other Thoughts: Many keyboards these days have lost the scroll lock, or, they don't seem to have PS2 ports, and so to switch i have been forced to break out an old keyboard.. Spend the money on one of the more expensive KVM switches...

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,
This is a very basic KVM switch and it may be that your hardware is too new to work with something like this. I would suggest you look into one of our Flip KVMs that have more features and newer technology.
In the future, you are welcome to contact our Tech Support Team at 800-2-BELKIN.
Thank you!

2 out of 5 eggsThis KVM is made to be broken

Pros: It's a simple solution to having two machines and on KVM.

Cons: This later version of the same model number is made for 1 laptop and one desktop. If this isn't what you want then don't buy it because you'll have to buy $20 worth of cables to extend the short cable. Also when switching you'll get a bad switch where you loose control over the KVM this may change in 10 seconds of inactivity or it may be permanent.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this, get something else that Belin makes.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked well

Pros: Saves space on your desktop so you don't need 2 monitors / keyboards, mice. Great for LAN parties when switching from my gaming box over to my server box. Cables are plenty long for most workspaces.

Cons: After 3 years of use it died. Wish I could mix PS2 and USB.

Other Thoughts: Hey, nothing lasts forever... I will buy another one of these as a replacement.
