5 out of 5 eggsFlawless Switch

Pros: This switch has worked flawless for me for nearly a year now. It is hooked to a wireless keyboard and mouse and serves my personal computer as well as whatever I may be working on or a new system I may be setting up. It does have a cherp when changing PC's that I don't find offensive . I have the unit located under my screen so the four sided wire connectors are not a problem for me but may be for someone with less desk space.

Cons: None I can think of.

Other Thoughts: This unit has a three year warranty!! NEWEGG ROCKS

2 out of 5 eggsLooses the mouse

Pros: Price

Cons: When I switch between PCs, I loose control of the mouse (PS/2). The manual has the "useful" solution of unplugging and replugging the mouse. That works, but I have no need of a KVM if I have replug the mouse on every switch.

Other Thoughts: Also, the footprint of this guy is large because the cables connectors cover 4 sides of the box (instead of all connectors at the back of the box).

3 out of 5 eggsO.K.

Pros: DVI compatibility.

Cons: Functions as advertised, but with only after a bit of trouble shooting. That chirping noise needs changed!

Other Thoughts: Video only for one PC without the AC adapter (purchased separately) connected. Using a MS wireless KB & Mouse, and the AC adapter connected, the KB & Mouse worked, but not at the same time. With both connected, the response was unstable/intermittent. So, ended up using 2nd mouse. One PC's video works fine using DVI-VGA adapter connected.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: Does Everything as promised, not one problem yet.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: I've seen a few reviews that there is some lag between switching between PCs , This was no where near long enough for me to mention. <1 second.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: My keyboard is an old-school clicky model with DIN connector that needs an adaptor for ps/2; and my mouse is a Microsoft Intellimouse optical using a USB-to-PS/2 converter. KVM works fine with these. The additional cable length is also a plus. I'm not running the monitor cables thru the KVM (each of 2 monitors goes directly to its PC).

Cons: There's a slight latency introduced by the KVM which is most noticeable as an additional delay before key repeat. And when using the KVM, the keyboard lights (num lock, caps lock) are always on, though the keys work normally.

Other Thoughts: Getting the extra keyboard and mouse off the desk outweighs the cons.

5 out of 5 eggsOne Complaint, but Good Enough.

Pros: I searched extensively to make sure I would be getting a switch that would accommodate my GAMING machine, and a Dell 7-button mouse, which it is necessary to use a USB->PS2 adapter. This switch handles it nicely. I'm running the GTX 8800 video card with max resolution and it looks great. All 7 buttons on my mouse work fine as well. There is no beep when you switch over, and the transition is pretty quick.

Cons: When you switch PCs, especially when you use the physical button on the switch, there is a tendency to lose mouse signal. The fix is to simply switch back and forth once and the mouse will move once again. If you switch extensively between them this will be annoying. Also the cords are pretty short, about 4 feet... just barely enough for my desk by a hair.

Other Thoughts: It is possible that the problem mentioned above may be due to using the USB->PS2 adapter, but I cant verify that. The last switch I used didn't have that problem but they don't seem to make them anymore. Hail Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsBelkin won't play with Docking station

Pros: Easy to set up. Comes with all the right cables.

Cons: With a HP NC6400 laptop docking station the PS2 mouse would only cause the system beep loudly, no cursor movement at all.

Other Thoughts: Belkin support was miserable. All they could do was suggest buying a usb kvm.

4 out of 5 eggsMake sure you are using PS/2 keyboard and mouse

Pros: Comes with all the cables that you need and is easy to use. You don't need to plug it in which is a huge plus to me.

Cons: If you are planning to use a USB mouse and keyboard, look for another device. It does not work very consistently with a PS/2 adapter on a USB device.

Other Thoughts: It is getting harder and harder to find PS/2 mice and keyboards in stores. TGFNE (thank goodness for newegg.com)

2 out of 5 eggsNo scanning feature

Pros: Toggling between pcs is quick and there is only a second or so of downtime in between. Also, the product feels sturdily made and shows no distortion on the monitor (which I have seen on other KVM switches).

Cons: The scanning feature does not function on my unit. I would return it for another or for a refund, but to be honest I still think that this product is worth the low price.
