Your business is growing faster than you expected and four computers simply aren't enough to meet your needs? Not a problem. IOGEAR's new eight-port MiniView Ultra is just the tool you need to help reduce the need for redundant hardware. Eight monitors, mice and keyboards are simply too expensive, bulky and downright inconvenient for most system administrators. Why bother when you can control all eight, or even up to 512 computers with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. Just think of the time, space and money you'll save.

But our MiniView Ultra is much more than a simple eight-port KVM switch. Built-in AutoScan mode lets you conveniently monitor every attached computer for a specified amount of time, while our On Screen Display technology allows you to assign a unique name to each computer and access it via a slick, menu-driven interface. With it's 1U, 19" rack-mountable casing and status-monitoring LEDs, the MiniView Ultra is the perfect switch for your server room or any other multi-computer environment.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Looks great.

Cons: Doesn't work great

Other Thoughts: The wavy lines and interferance described by other users is a problem for my work as well. With a little trouble shooting we discovered it was caused by are optical mice. Switching to an old fashioned ball mouse fixed the visual issues. What a strange connection. I'm very dissapointed. Other then that it's does all I could ever want.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Solid, low cost kvm. Perfect for the smb datacenter or the home rack.

Cons: Required cable type not specified in the description on newegg had to look at the manf page.

Other Thoughts: Check the cable types. The ones I intended to use were the wrong gender. Happily I had others of the proper orientation.

4 out of 5 eggsLacking on High Res....

Pros: Affordable and well built.

Cons: Horrible clarity at anything over 1024x768@60hz.

Other Thoughts: Perfect for any appliction that does not require high res. Unfortunately, I do, so this one will go into one of my racks and I'll have to keep looking for a better unit for my desk...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat KVM / Good value

Comments: I got this KVM for our datacenter, and it works great! The On Screen Display is awesome, and you simply cannot go wrong here with this KVM. Only down side is the power light is as bright as an aircraft landing light !!! LOL.. Otherwise it's perfect !

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for servers poor for mulimedia & games.

Comments: I've had this unit for several months in my home office to control 8 servers/PC's. Overall, it works great and is easy to install and setup. It functions just fine for office or server environments. The unit itself is very heavy weight and seems built quite rugged. I'd have no reservations purchasing these units for my company to control servers.

But, at my home office I'm connecting to a high-end multimedia PC for movie and music viewing/editing and also a high-end gaming rig. I have a superb quality flat panel LCD monitor that requires 1280x1024 60Hz and my high end PC's have the latest and top-o-the-line graphics cards. Still, the IOGear KVM is pretty shaky as it passes the video signal. All PC's/servers have faint horizontal scan lines that constantly go vertically up the screen and the fine details are, well, the best I can describe it is static like interference looking. Fine edges of certain aspects of the OS or applications are just fuzzy. Even trying to read text can be a bit bothersome as they are not sharp. It is really annoying in gaming, but you can learn to live with it if a lack of perfection does not bother you too much. No adjustments that I can make have made any improvement on the quality. My previous KVM from APEX (Outlook) passed the video near perfectly (until a lightning strike took it out), but of course the cost is much higher.

All in all, a good buy for a server room/farm but for gaming/multimedia enthusiasts, you may be annoyed and disappointed with the video quality.

4 out of 5 eggsShaky at high res

Comments: A little shaky on my 17" NEC LCD1765 when at 1280x1024. But, i know it's not the best LCD monitor, and I only have a Radeon 9200 128mb video card in the computer that goes 1280x1024, the rest are at 1024x768 and they are perfect.

Overall, I'd recommend it, but it's probably not the best. My 2 port Belkin never had a problem with 1280x1024.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat KVM switch

Comments: This switch works great. Video is excellent and it works fine on Win2000 and several SuSE Linux servers. The PC selection menu is handy too. I will be buying aonther of these for work.

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional

Comments: I had a belkin KVM that was only a 4 port. I outgrew this KVM so I figured I would get this one. The Low price scared me away at first, but I can tell you this KVM is perfect! Switches Fast, Supports High resolutions, hotkeys..... If you want a well made KVM for a small price then this is for you.
