Great product
- Pros: I've owned this for over four years. Unlike every other KVM I've ever owned, it does what it's supposed to without any annoyances. It switches between machines in under two seconds without any additional lag for the keyboard or mouse to be recognized. Video quality is excellent. Right now I have two laptops attached to the unit. One is running in dual screen mode (built in and external LCD). My external LCD is a full 1920x1200. It all works without a problem. It never locks up. I've had previous laptops that gave all sorts of problems to other KVMs I've owned, but this one handles it all.
To be fair, my setup is ordinary. I have an old IBM keyboard with the clicky keys that weighs about four pounds (made in 1993). I have a plain old wired mouse, but the main buttons, back/forward buttons and scroll wheel/middle button work as they should.
- Cons: Like many other KVMs, it doesn't always work booting into the BIOS. Also, the unit occasionally transmits several duplicate keystrokes (if you press the A key you'll get several repeated A's). This happens about once a week.
- Other Thoughts: I was so happy with this product that I just bought another IOGear KVM with four ports due to the recent addition of a company-issued laptop.
Solid Product, Great Price
- Pros: Very easy to set up and worked as described the first time with no hassles (both PCs running XP SP 3). Uses Scroll Lock as the Hotkey.
- Cons: Some loss of Bass fidelity after hooking audio up, just turned up my subwoofer to compensate. Also, my Logitech (S510) Wireless Mouse/Keyboard combo did not work with this product. I knew this may be an issue and purchased knowing it in hopes it work. Appears the unit does not pull enough power to pass on to the Logitech Receiver. There may be a way to make this work but I haven't researched it yet. For me it's more important for to switch PCs than it is to use a wireless combo.
- Other Thoughts: Good functionality for the money, what I needed.
Slow
- Pros: Works as promissed.
- Cons: If you connect USB Trackball to it through PS2-->USB adapter, it will not work since PS2 port is too slow to transmit data from Laser Trackball. Should use USB GCS 632U model instead of this.
- Other Thoughts: The rest is fine.
